Have you even been burned by a relaxer? And if you have how do you sort it out? Because I have been burnt with a relaxer like 5 times! and it is really starting to annoy. The first time I noticed tht my hair was burned I decieded to go post relaxer for 3 months instead of 2 but even though I did this my scalp was still burning! What can I do to stop my hair from burning anymore???? Thankss for all your video;'s btw :)
Your hair is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I am a teen African-American girl & my hair has of course had its ups & downs. I know you don't wear a weave, but I am just gonna mention that ever since I've started wearing weaves my hair has grown extensively. The BRAIDS are the cause of that, & I haven't been wearing any weaves recently due to my growth :D. ANYWAY, how do you apply your relaxer? My ma does mine, but she only applies it to my roots... Is that the right way?
your hair is so long..wow.. I am mixed (African-European) and cant get my hair past the base of my neck :'( waaaaaah!! Why is it that African American hair is so different from err native African hair?
I just relaxed my hair today after a six month stretch and I was not happy with the results. Half of my head is relaxed straight and the rest isn't. Especially in the middle to the back part of my hair, the new growth is still kind of "nappy" and difficult to comb through. I've been using Castor oil for about 6 months and I think that has something to do with the relaxer not taking very well. I air dried. Any tips on what I can do to soften the new growth?
hey meg! im wondering what do you think about texlax( perm mixed with a conditionner or oil )? i dont want my hair to get bone straight anymore and im wondering what to you think about this method.
i have fine hair too , i dont want a lion mane,, those haters just dont have anything positive in their life and they want someone to take it out on ,,,
Thanks for this update -- i noticed your hair has thickened and yes, it looks great, girlie! I have fine hair too -- forget ignorant ppl saying it's thin -- who r they to comment anyway, lol!! You inspired me to start my hair journey last month (jan '12) and i am already seeing vast improvements!! Keep 'em coming please!
thanks lightyagmi 2294 but i thought i was talking to her i aint ask you what the fuck kind of relaxer you use or how often you do yo shit.is yo damn hair down yo back is yo shit thick if it is than i will comment on your fucking page now ulovemegz what relaxer do you use and how often do you relax your hair?
Great Job Mamaz it looks GREAT...you can tell that you left texture in it because it looks thiick than #9 relaxer update...I like it keep it up Im on a journey as well I dont have videos yet but soon I will :)
Don't let people give you flack because you have fine hair. Some people have fine hair, some people have medium hair and some people have thick hair. Indeed, we can't all have thick hair, but we can all strive for healthy hair. You have come a long way and you should be proud. Congrats!
i often say, just because your hair maybe thin, it doesn't mean that is always has to stay thin... you are proof positive, keep doing what you're doing Megz:)~
Hi Megz ~_~ Love your vids always. As far as your ends go, did you ever consider some days or like a month dedicated to protective styling...like bunning or tucking in your ends to lessen their exposure to outside elements? That may help :-)
You've inspired me girlie! I've been following you for some time. I'm too afraid to post my hair but happy growing! PS good luck in RN school. It's worth it. Never give up, even when you're advisor says throw in the towel. Lastly I just finished up my invisilign after 9 months. It works!!!
All that length... doesn't it kind of suck that you can't go natural? Like what if you get sick of relaxing?? All your hair will break off if you try to transition and stuff. You'd have to start from scratch!! Ahhh that's scary.
Hello megs, Your hair look great (thicker)! I just found from my cousin Olia that they discontinued the Herbal Essence split end protector. Do you recommend any other leave in conditioner for split ends? "Just my two cents" as far as your ends go for trimming I learned quite a bit from LifewithLora's channel...the video is called Hair won't grow thick/long 10. Hope this helps.
I love the idea of you making a video of you maintaining your ends I really need something like that . Post a video soon when you get a regimen on that !? I have some trouble with annoying split ends . Thanks a bunch xo
Hi I have a question for you. I have been wearing weaves for a long time (3yrs). I decided to stop and do a hair journey. I relax my hair at a salon. When I washed my hair at home, I noticed my roots and ends were straight but parts in the middle of the hair shaft were not. At first I was going to wait out the ten weeks before I relax to correct the problem but now I'm 4 weeks in and afraid of breakage. In your opinion what would you suggest, wait the remainder 6 weeks or correct the issu
Wow your hair did get thicker...i'm impressed, especially since there isn't toooo much to be done about thin hair. Sometimes it's about what you may be doing to your hair but a lot of the time it's genetics, relaxed or natural. I went natural expecting more hair to be on my head but when I got it pressed, it was just as flat as when my hair was relaxed, lol :(
coconut oil makes ur hair repair itself and makes it thicker. All u have to do is warm the coconut oil and massage it in ur scalp and then leave it in a hour and then wash it out. It works great.
I know you are used to self relaxing by now but did you have any setbacks when you did it the first time? I am thinking about self relaxing which I haven't done before and I am kinda nervous lol. Any tips?
I love your videos! They have helped me out so much. When I started my HHJ a year ago my hair was neck level, now it is past ALP. I have fine hair also and your hair tips work great.Everyone needs to do what works for their hair. Keeps the videos coming and I love the up date videos.
ok just started watching you channel now so am not sure what you have covered. But i been relaxing my hair since forever so i wanted to ask how did you get yours to grow so long
I'm gonna need to get a comb like that asap. I have a decent wide-tooth comb, but that one right there will do the job! Your hair looks beautiful by the way! I'm encouraged after watching this vid! Thanks Meg!
Don't you wear the scent of a shampoo? Which is what we are talking about scent? Not the use of a shampoo. And, you're missing the point, if you've never heard of someone saying black girls hold different scents that can come off unpleasant because of reasons that I've stated you're in another planet.
I understand bout not relaxing bone straight. I change my relaxer to a mild one and I love the results I get from it. Anyway your hair looks great!!!!
WHERE DID TOO GET THAT COMB?? I used to have one and I need another, but cannot find it. PLEASE tell me where to get one. PS - love ur channel!! I get lots of great tips on hair and fashion! Keep up the good work!
hey meggzz i am all the way from trinidad!!! i love your videos they have helped me a lot,i just have a few questions though,i want to get my hair more full so wat can i use? and how soon to moisturise my hair after a relaxer ?and how soon to do the protein treatments and deep condition? u see i hav been relaxing by a hair dresser and everytime i go by her she cuts off 4 inches,so meggz basically i have the same length for years (VERY ANGRY) I NEED HELP
My two cent your hair is definitely thicker than update 2 but update 11 is DA BOMB! I have come to the same conclusion about thicker relaxed hair dont relax bone straight and spread relaxers as far apart as possible. Im trying to relax twice a year with a mild and im 4c. I loved my thick natural hair but not the time it took to care for it.
SO glad you stopped relaxing bone straight, i've been watching your videos for a very long time. and you're hair now looks thicker and more full! so happy for you because you have beautiful hair and i know that the thickness is something you've been working on for a while now
Wow....its use shampoo not "wear" genius! Secondly you did say what type of smell...."bad". Please don't bother to respond as I am beyond bickering. Hi Megan; your hair is beautiful darling.
I never said what type of smell-- you genius. Just because you wear shampoo black women have a tendency to put on product that overpowers the smell of your shampoo, like..flat irons? Chemicals and even the smell of oils and butters that doesn't smell great.
I don't know what you have been doing, but your hair looks good in this video! Full and shiny!! I am natural, but you hair looks good for creamy crack... so keep it up..
join me on uhatemegcom! LOL! will be putting a spell on megz hair! w/ our hatin powers multiplied we should be able 2 wish her bald headed by tuesday! lol... = i'm green w/ envy! megz hair looks amazing! castor oil really works! megz do u ever use mini twists as a protective style? hey megz, megz did u know that when a natural sista starts givin some grief about relaxing they use u as an example of healthy long relaxed hair? what a great compliment 2 u! congrats & hhj!
I'm in limbo and don't know if I should continue the stretch -- I'm 11 weeks post. When I relax, should I use ORS and get the same texlax result I got 11 weeks ago, even though I wasn't trying to texlax? I think ORS changed something. Do I use a different relaxer and try to do a corrective relaxer? I've been intermittently moisturizing and sealing. It's in platts now, haven't washed it in a couple of weeks and I gotta do something between now and 7 am.
Hey megz! Your hair looks great. Have u heard about lead hairs? Well those are the hairs that grow faster than the rest of ur hair and at that point ur hair looks uneven. Instead of cutting ur hair even u could just let the rest of ur hair catch up to ur lead hairs. I HOPE THIS HELPS.
Hair never grows all one length, so when you think it looks uneven and jacked it is probably just those levels of hair growing first, and the rest will catch up. I would dust more and trim less...but of course, even at your current length your hair is still gaw-jus!
Hi megz! You're such an inspiration to me! know how to prevent ends from snapping off. My hair cannot survive a touch without the ends snapping off, despite me daily me applying the Cantu shea butter grow strong, and then coating it with Organix serum. Am I doing something wrong, or do you have any reccomendations?
@bethspirits Both of those products are very protein heavy, which can make hair go into protein overload and snap off easily. Try integrating more moisture-based products asap~!
@ulovemegz oh my god, where did you get yor earrings :) they are so pretty. i never seen the ones with the sparkly diamonds on them, i just have the kind without the diamonds, where did u get the earrings :)
You've inspired me to start a hair journey. i've had weaves on and off for a while. I put in the castor oil when i have weave and stuff and taking my weave out my hair grew alot
your hair looks awesome lol but wait what kind of comb is that?!? i've been wanting to get a comb just like that for a while now. could you tell me where you got it or ordered it from? haha thanks :D
Let me tell you something girl! I hate you so bad!! I want your lenght hair woman do your hear me?? You have beautiful hair but first you're sooo beautiful :) ! My hair was growing up... so bad but because I didn't take care of my ends... -_- I need to cut a lot of my ends! But I'm patient!! :) Love your videos xx
Your hair looks great!!. I'm under the impression that we can only retain length to a certain extent. Eventually our old hair will start to fall out as part of a normal hair growth cycle hence the the thinning ends you experience after you go past this length. I think this is the reason why most of us don't walk around with our hair touching our bottom. You are doing all the right things.
My hair has been growing longer and stronger since I've been following a schedule of weekly deep conditioning after a wash and utilizing natural oils all thanks to you <3.
i have the exact see problem. grow an inch cut an inch off. soo many stuggles no solutions... it's hard being black. still luv it though keeps life interesting!
Women who continually try to tell someone what they should or should not do to their hair (especially without asking for their opinion) are HAIR BULLIES!! I am going to post a video that I did on hair bullying in the next few days! I think that a lot of women with relaxed hair should speak out on this on YT. I say particularly women with relaxed hair because the bullying in my experience comes mainly from women who are natural. Some of them bully relaxed women about how "bad" their hair is.
@MrsFabBeautyBlog I'm natural and I like her videos, they have helped me a lot. I think that bullies are just bullies no matter what type of hair is on their head. If they weren't being bossy about hair it would be something else.
My problem is length, I'm 3yrs post and my hair has grown from cheek length to neck length in the front; and between my backbones in the back. My hair is cut in a V..I NEED LENGTH HELP
i'm not going to lie everytime you do a relax update i always go back to look at your old relax updates starting with update #1 and you can really tell the difference it is so much healthier and it's thicker...as you can say i'm just a big fan of your vids but i love to see when the people i'm subscribed to are really doing good not just with their hair but in their life...love youtube wouldn't trade it for nothing but anyway continue to do you megz...<3 you
For length you might want to try getting corn rows. My hair is about as long as yours and I gained about three inches to my hair getting them. For maintaining your ends, you might want to try moisturizing and sealing and putting plastic over them when you sleep. I did it and it helped my hair grow about six inches in a year, but everybody's hair is different, just a suggestion. I hope you find what works for you:)
protective styles/ and moisturizing just your ends...help you retain length...and stop cutting ur hair....curl it if you dont like how it look....lol....it works for me
Have you even been burned by a relaxer? And if you have how do you sort it out? Because I have been burnt with a relaxer like 5 times! and it is really starting to annoy. @Ang1stokes, I'm pretty sure that the problem for some people is due to something other than infrequent washing.

Am I doing something wrong, or do you have any reccomendations?
bethspirits 1 month ago
@bethspirits Both of those products are very protein heavy, which can make hair go into protein overload and snap off easily. Try integrating more moisture-based products asap~!

You are doing all the right things.

how many times do you use the castor oil on a weekly basis. Do you put it on your scalp or just your actual hair strands

MrsFabBeautyBlog 1 month ago
@MrsFabBeautyBlog I'm natural and I like her videos, they have helped me a lot. I think that bullies are just bullies no matter what type of hair is on their head. If they weren't being bossy about hair it would be something else.
