Hm. I think each scene had about 6 takes, not counting rehearsals and numerous run-throughs. No one is a pro and I am sure I made numerous mistakes as a director. I'm also the whiny crewman who gets slapped.

You mean the transporter effect? I didn't have to use a greenscreen for that. I just started videoing without him there, he walked in and paused, then started talking. I edited out the bit with him walking in and used one of the special wipes to make it look like he beamed in.

What I would change if I had to shoot that shot again: I'd set the exposure with him standing there, then lock the exposure.

Thanks! We had it shot and I had it on my laptop but unedited at Radcon in 2005. Then the person in charge of their fan film contest told me they didn't have many fan films entered so could I please enter our film? So I edited it down in about 2 hours. It was a bit choppy editing it on the laptop, but it was good enough, we won first place! OK, there were only 6 entries, but still, quite an ego boost.
