  • would the hofner style control plate fit it.

  • iwould get this for the body,, replace the head and the control plate and have a nice hofner style bass

  • my epiphone sg slants aswell its annoyin haha XD

  • Awesome!

Hey man I just got one but I can't seem to tune it.

I get buzz around the 7th. fret on the E string and

it seems as though the tuning is completely

    random sometimes??

    Did you struggle with this?

I've been trying now for about a week but I

    haven't advanced much haha.

  • @ramirezchad adjust thruss rod..?

  • whats that thing under the bridge???

  • Haha Finish With More Than A Feelin , Hey What's Songs Play On??

  • pero suena muy electrico..casi no suena como el hofner de hecho la similitud solo esta en la forma del bajo

  • as u can c this bass sucks hofner rocks mccartney all the way

  • I put flatwound strings on mine Viola. What a total sound change. I can rumble the room no problem

  • I had some neck dive too. I replaced the chrome key knobs with plastic banjo ones on the headstock. less counter weight will reduce haft the dive. . after that trick, I then got a fender vintage style guitar strap and guess what,.. no more problems. Gibson made the first violin shaped electric bass guitar years before Hofner did. called the EB1 in 1953 which had banjo knobs on it .

  • hey i need an electric bass guitar to learn on, is this a good/okay one to learn on?

  • @bshondarider142 no deffinetly not a good bass to learn on.. a good bass to learn on is one with a original bass body ..

  • @dexter12322222222222 I dissagree. I bought and learned on a hofner and I learned just fine.

  • @dexter12322222222222 This is a great bass to learn on, it's short scale and has a narrow neck. It's great!!

  • @theyodaclub Glad it works out for you!! i didnt like it that much as a first bass..

  • Habla como puto este pendejo !!

  • I just got one today.

  • @ZENXMETAL fun isnt it? :P

  • @r0b3rt0nr8x I love it.

  • @ZENXMETAL Awesome! congrats! :D

  • i had the shitty rouge version of the hofner and it did the same thing, serious neck diving. worst bass i have ever owned.

  • nice bass man... hollow body basses are hard to stay in tune

  • goin to put a bigsby b7 and seymoreduncken pickups to make it more body heavy

  • Do you know how much this cost you? I am thinking about one because it looks awesome

  • wrong choice. a cheap bass with cheap sound

  • Comment removed

  • It would sound better if you would take off the white piece of plastic under the bridge.

It is only a protection during transport.

  • Personally, this bass is the best bass I've ever played.

  • @sgvslp sorry but you've never played a real bass like a fender precision or a rickenbacker ??????

  • @The170460 i've never played a rickenbacker xD I like the fender precision basses, i just prefer to play these viola basses :)

  • Were you playing Moby Dick?

  • whyd thay make it look pretty simular to the hofner

  • At 2:30, do I hear a little Karate there?

  • was tht moby dick?? dam iwant a viola would u recomend it??

  • you are a rubbish bassist

  • I have an ancient Kent Beatle bass copy. Same problem, neck dive 0 rama. but it is a cool bass.

I played a few of these new Epi's and I personally think they are much better than the high dollar Hofner's.

  • Ive got the same bass and it sounds great with flats. put somes flats on yours man. rounds wont get you beatle bass tone. try chromes or tomastik.

  • your wrong he only played hofner

  • @pointon12 idk who your talking about but if its paul, your wrong. during the years when the beatles became a studio band, he had a Rickenbacker 4001

  • @dal3fan88 i was talking about paul but in the early years and like megakiller said he used a rickenbacker around the sgt peppers era and so on :)

  • @pointon12 well you are partly wrong. on stage he only usses a hofner but in the studio he usually used a rickenbacker bass.

  • @pointon12 he had a rickenbacker

  • Paul McCartney probably played this kind instead of just the Höfner.

  • @ThizzinChampX24

    lolool... probably not

  • This thing is really not heavy.

  • can u post a video showing how to adjust the octaves inur bass? thank you.

  • Mines a 98 version and they all seem to look the same.......

  • As you point out, what I hate about these basses is the neck dive. I have a nearly 50 year old Hofner copy cat bass. Really cool but it's a hassle to play because you must actually use some of your body mechanics to hold the instrument in place.

  • Right on... Neck Dive. Mind if I use that in a videos that need it ? Thanks for checkin' it out.

  • No problem, nothing I coined. That has been the generic term for neck heavy basses forever.

  • @IplayMusic2 also the strings are kinda awkward but those can be replaced

  • @SotR59 Some of the newer copies are failry evenly waited while still being hollowbody. How they do it? No idea.

  • @SotR59

If your worried about neck dive then get a leather strap dumb ass

  • @ace19901227

Fuck off moron, you think I haven't tried that and every other kind of strap?

  • @SotR59

Yes I believe you haven't tried using a real leather strap, because if you did you wouldn't be having this problem. Pleather and polyester are not leather, leather grips to your shirt and eliminates neck dive, I know because I use a leather strap to hold up my V bass. So either your shoulders are grotesquely unaligned or your not using a real leather. Plain and simple.

  • @ace19901227

You think I don't know the difference between real and fake leather? I have a $75 dollar Levy's strap that is yes, REAL leather and suede to boot.. And besides as I said, my bass is not a Hofner, it's different. It is a violin shape but much bigger. The headstock is huge and the tuners are heavy. The bass neck dives no matter what kind of strap you use.

  • I dont like the headstock it should look more like a hofner head

  • HEARD MOBY DICK!

  • does the bassguitar sound good with metal?

  • ... nope. You wouldn't be able to play properly for some fast pace metal, maybe some doom or groovier.

  • yes, just about all metal songs have a bass guitar

  • Ten Years After!!! YES!!! I have that bass to, although im in the process of selling it, i loved it untill i moved on to a Yamaha BB3000AF fretless, ahhh, good video though

  • The EB-0 has the same balance problem. I will never buy a bass like that again. I wanted to pull my hair out.

  • Hofner Violin shaped bass is better!

  • Because Hofner was the first to make it, I think. But of course the Hofner one costs more.

  • Did I hear the bass line from "Terry Waits Says" by The Fall in there?

  • VERY NICE looking

    how much?

  • I played today on that bassthrough Peavey combo, it has awesome tone on neck pickup.

  • moby dick is in drop d not standard

  • sounds shitty man!

  • agreed,. but i dont think he adjusted anything right on his bass, and he was playing by the bridge pickup also

  • you were showing of to much

  • IMO this bass looks ugly due to its shape of an upright bass, but sounds better than it looks

  • its the beatles man grow up!

  • what was that at about 2:00?

  • Epiphone made this bass so gay. Hofner did it right.

  • the newer one of this is way better but still if you want a knock off hofner i'd get a rogue wich sounds better and is cheaper!

  • crap

  • aboot 470 bucks where i am

  • rip off by a woody allen

  • How much is this please send me a message dont answer here

  • google is your friend.

  • paranoid much?

  • true

  • im getting this in a month. cant wait

  • I'm going to buy a new bass soon, and I was thinking about getting one like this, can anyone tell me what they're like?

  • they are quite nice. I tried one out and I enjoyed the feel of the violin shape. however I do belive it is a little overpriced. If you are into the beatles maybe try a Rogue Violin bass or a knock off hofner. But the epiphone is quite nice though.

  • man that was gay as hell

  • i have a question

How are this basses for funk and slaping?

  • the stings are too close for me to do anything like that, maybe it would be more your style though, idk.

  • Slapping is not so easy. The body is hollow and therefore not as stable as a normal solid one. At my Höfner 1965 Violin 500/1 it's not working properly.

  • This is true, but that's not to say that it can't be done. The Viola is my bass of choice (at least for now), and I can safely say that slapping is still possible, but it does take some getting used to.

  • nothing said against it. ;) I Love the sound.

  • juas day tripper!!

  • this is going to sound stupid, but, i play bass and viola

  • @kookoocacapeepee and what do you get when you put those two together. u get this!

  • @kookoocacapeepee dont feel bad i play bass and mandolin ^_^

  • i want it!!!

  • but waht do i know? I play a Peavey! LOL

  • they're also worth it.

  • if u want a violin shped bass get the hofner they're the real deal

  • yeh but theyre fucken expensive

  • this is my first and only bass... and i love it

  • horrible sound, he is playing near the bridge and the attack and harmonics doesnt exist at all..

  • well the bass isn't suppose to be bright in tone. the hollow body gives it a rich warm sound, so the bass and low mid frequencies are emphasized more than the high mids and treble.

  • Lol. Seriously, what the hell is the deal with that?

  • gibson are rip off, who gives a shit where epiphones are made. epiphone produce great sound for there moneys worth and look great, maybe noy this bass because its shit but take a look at the epiphone casino its looks and sounds awesome and is worth a less than half most gibson guitars

  • you got a point there....most gibsons suck, especially basses, but epiphone thunderbird for example...the epiphone version is true crap compared to the gibson.

the gibson version sounds better, looks better and is lighter, with a better balance.

Anyway, I agree that gibsons are a fucking ripoff, and I wouldn't buy one anyway xD

  • What the heck is wrong with you? Practice and you wont drool over stats, and specs. What is wrong with you--play the bass and give me something---

  • beautiful bass you would make paul mccartney proud

  • he didn't use this bass: the original by Höfner.

  • Realy cool bass, have allways wanted a Viola Bass

  • I just bought this bass and it is awesome. The only complaint I have is the slight slide sound that happens when you change notes sometimes. That and the first one I got buzzed on certain frets. But I traded it in for a different one and it sounds great.

  • looks nice but they the colours wrong for a hofner copy

  • I really wanna get one o'those but i'm really thinking bout it cuz on EEEVERY video on youtube about em, a beatles song is being played always with that acoustic kinda sound. the thing is: is that bass really versatile? i mean could it sound a bit more like "metallic" or "jazzy"?

  • Heck YES! Play it through a BP80 amp modeler or POD. You can make it sound like an Explorer if you have the WATTs. Also strings can give you versatility...flats, rounds, tapewounds - the possibilities are endless, treble up with fuzz, dirty down with buggers'n slime!!!

  • An amp modeler will make anything sound like anything except itself. Amp modelers are worthless. I don't have any experience with the bass though, lol.

  • How does that make sense - of course they sound like something else. That's the whole idea. That's like saying you only believe in one color. You belong in a hillbilly bluegrass band. Woops, they have different sounding instruments....hahahahaha

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, n-n-n-necro post. And yeah, POD's are crap. If you think otherwise you are a novice metalhead.

  • Comment removed

  • The bass will NOT sound versatile, it's a hollowbody hence the "acoustic" sound. I have 1 & only use it if I want that sound & that's only for recording. It's cool if you get it cheap, mine was free, the best price.

  • hey Im thinkin of buyin that exact bass do you like it????????

  • YOU SUUCK

  • If that's all you think about....guess what! The topic here is music - not sex, creampuff. xoxoxox

  • Don't know why but i don't like sound of that bass.

  • Ya know why - it's because you play the trouser trumpet punk. You swallow kielbasa whole/sideways.

  • anyone noticed its got a flame maple top? looks nice

  • you kinda sound like paul gilbert

  • Geeeeeeeezzzzzzzz do we care how many scratches are on your bass

  • i've got a rouge violin bass that looks EXACTLY like that, the only difference is the name on the head!?

  • bahaha under pressure nice

  • how much was it i wanna buy one

  • like over 200

  • hey isnt this the bass the beatles used??

  • Nah,looks like it, though, doesn't it?

    The Beatles used a Hoffner.

  • hofner are way to expensive for normal people

  • mine has more of a brown sunburst to it- i also threw some rotosound flats on it and it thumps like a motherfucker using a pick!

  • You're as lucky as me - I live in Latvia and have the same bass... ;)

  • you need to take the plastic thing out from under the bridge

  • My favorite bass, wish I had one.

  • is it better than the Höfner 500/1 ?

  • your bass is so AMAZING!

  • Thats my exact bass, I also have an "Lawsuit Copy" SG Bass. I can't remember its maker though.... Heh, i've been using my Viola enough to forget my old one.

  • Are you kidding me? This thing is frigging beautiful.

  • AMEN MAN I love those viola basses. they look so awesome. I wanna get one because you can get them for fairly cheap. about $200 bucks for the cheapest ones.

  • r ya?

  • Dude, Hofner were never crap instruments, they are European made and originals from the time period are atleast 40 years old, and have a distinctive, alternate feel to American made and American-designed guitars, particularly modern instruments.

  • i love this bass! it looks like something from the 17'th century

  • is it top heavy like most gibson/ eppi basses

  • dam, thats a cool bass! wish i had it! all i have is 2 crappy epiphone bass that looks way different, 3 fenders, and 2 yamaha

  • I have a used kingston it was described as being able to pound railroads with it haha I still love my bass though

  • a teatcher of mine had a OLD viola bass (gibson) just like Paul McCartney had/have he looked at the price he can get if he sell it.. its like 60000$

  • Old viola was Germany Hohfner musical instruments no Gibson, and also a crap instrument, Paul once said he use it due to light weight. This Epiphone believe me is way better than the original hofner.

  • nice to know... but since its now a epiphone Gibson Hd to buy the rights to make it

  • I have the same Viola, which is the 2001 model and was crafted in Korea. It's not the same quality than chinese ones. Korean were sold 500€ in Europe and now chinese are sold only 250€.

  • i have 1 just like it!

  • Dang we got A Viola BASS just like that one but ours is a BRONWSVILLE one

People say thats the one PAUL MCCartney used

  • People would be wrong, then. McCartney plays a Hofner.

  • thats probably a Hofner bass, like what Paul Mccartney really uses, but I warn you, I have a viola from epiphone and its TERRIBLE, you see in the video how he has a white wrapper on the bridge? it COMES LIKE THAT and being a floating bridge, one adjustment ruins it ALL, I've been to guitar center countless times and have spent at least 50$ total for adjustments... I spent my voucher on the wrong bass, NOT SUITED FOR CONSISTENT PLATYING. Yes I love the style but it's just not reliable enough

  • that would be a great bass to play bluegrass or blues with.

  • favorite bass ever :)

what is with people hateing the shape...

I guess because the people who don't like it are into metal and realy heavy stuff and its just not hardcore enough for them...

  • i didn't come here to be mean but that bass is the ugliest instrument I've ever seen .... i mean c'mon it looks like a cello >.>

  • it would better if u didnt hit the strings so hrd man..

  • I have that same bass.

  • i saw the sameone at tom lee music but 5 strings. lol i thought it was some sort of violin or something... dont ask

  • es trucho!

  • Ghastly instrument, smash it up!
