Nicely done but she's a fool to attempt to skate to that music...Salome is one of the "hands off" pieces in the skating world. That program was nothing compared to Michelle Kwan's...there's a reason an elite skater has not attempted to skate to that music in nearly 15 years...
@flameguy617 I don't underestimate her...she's a decent skater and Rachael Flatt isn't that hard to beat when she skates the way she did. Still, her choice of music is a death sentence for skaters. "Salome" was an iconic program for Kwan; unfortunately Kristiene's portrayal comes nowhere close to what Kwan accomplished. She's setting herself up for harsh criticism by attempting to skate to such mature music with such a big history...I do wish her all the best...I'm just not fond of her program.
@herm712 I think it's actually quite amusing. I like to watch other skaters skating to a music that figure skating icons like Kwan made classic. It's the same feeling that I have when young Jr. skaters try to emulate Yuna Kim with the music Danse Macabre. Sure skaters in the past have used the same music but Yuna has made Danse Macabre a masterpiece. I don't think she's going to receive harsh criticism, not til she get's to the world championship, then maybe she'll get her share of criticism.
@herm712 Totally agree. It's the same thing when another skater ( I forgot who) skated to España Cañí - when Sasha Cohen has already done a brilliant and fiery program for her 2010 SP, which is so difficult to match in artistry. Using that music only served to show how weak her technicality and artistry was compared to Sasha's.
@shewalksingrace She definitely improved, but she's still too immature to skate to something as gandiose as Salome. I admire how Gao and Gong have really tried to improve artistically this season, but I'm not sure if they are quite ready for that yet.
Amazing comeback after that first fall. She is truly one to watch!
