The VOB & IFo files I need to convert won't show up when opening the folder. Only the ts files are there. However, I do see them in my main folder. Before, I was using Any Video converter and the same thing happens. It won't show the files I need to open to convert.

i need to know how to convert an avi file to a vob file because my avs dvd program wont let me burn an avi file unless its a vob file.

@jayfey77 Hmmm, Thats interesting. That wouldn't make much sense to me. It would be a VOB file after it was on the dvd but not before hand. Try making the DVD through windows movie maker? If that doesnt work, let me know and I'll see What I Can do.

yes it would be a vob file after it was on dvd problem is i cant get it on dvd because my avs dvd converter software wont open it unless its a vob file i cant add an avil file to the program.i can make a dvd through windows problem is when i use that program it wont play on any dvd player just on my pc only so thats no good.

You take your .VOB file, rename it, so it's not .VOB anymore but .AVI you can play it with media player,...

Actually, That Doesnt Work, It May Change How The File Looks, And It May Say AVI, But, When You Go To Edit It In An Editing Software, Or Even Play It, Something With Pop Up Saying, "Code Eq Needed To Play Is Not Valid Or Corrupt"

Actually, I had a DVD laying arround.

I wanted to put it on my MP4, but the converter could not convert VOB files. I tried to rename it to AVI. Then, I could convert it easily. I could also play it with Media Player. Maybe it's because I downloaded a very large codec pack ?

i changed my program to virtualDub-mpeg2 and when i selected the vob file when i clicked play the video it came out a window saying this:"No audio decompresser could be found to decompress the source audio format". can anyone say whats happening pls. cause i kinda want that alot to avi. :) thx

You need to install an AC3 audio decoder into the virtualDub directory, .VOB files use the AC3 audio format.

You could just re-add the sound. I think. Or if that doesn't work just wait until you make another video and then before adding sound just convert the video first and then add sound.

The file C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\My Videos\dvd\footage.avi cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again. this error message appears when i try to import the video to movie maker also when i play the file there is no sound can this be fixed?

unless there is a newer version of virtual DUB out, if theres not, then theres nothin can i do to help! its not ur camera, its your computer, the program works better with older computers for some reason it doesnt seem to work right on the newer ones, i'll research this problem
