i didn't really hear you do this, but try palm muting the lowest note in your arps when you're holding them like chords to get them sounding cleaner. hope that helps.

i agree with you finding easier shapes than barred sweeps is better personally i cant do barred sweeps for anything but give me standard 3 to 5 string sweeps and i might be able to play it as long as its not michael angelo batio hahaha

Yea its consistent. If you know malmsteen you know everything is in Am/Em. So I figured out a comfortable way to sweep the Am without barring

yeh I don't know malmsteen really, I know music though... Usually on the Am sweep I 7h12 on the "A" string at the begining of the sweep and 8h12-12p8 on the high "E"
