  • fantastic stuff, cute kid, thanks for the birlliant review...

  • A "Volkswagen" (peoples car) that has a 40 000 € pricetag? I have no clue what "volk" the germans are thinking of... Should change their name to "Millionärswagen" (millionaires car).

  • 0:24 FAIL

  • some good info on these at vw-california-owners-forum

  • Comment removed

  • would look nice tucked between my 68 and 79 vans, and wont freeze to death while winter camping would be a definite plus, Are the front seats heated by chance?

  • Excelente video !!! Compraré una penas puedas para dar un pseo con mi esposa y mis nietos por Suramerica

  • great car and presentation

  • @alexander53988 Thanks

  • vw t5 cali is realy great for the camp travel fo family.

I have t5 california factory camper interior for sell if someone would like to have making conversion of the t5 that

    would be the best idea

    pictures of my interior::

u can contact me on my email wojass@hotmail.com or skype wojass24 Thanks

  • Thanks sharing. I'll definately buy one when I win the lottery.

  • I Wish more people did this sort of thing

  • A bit torn on the VW California. Seems great but I would really like the ability to shower, as some other campervans have.

  • Nice review, alot of detail. Thanks!

  • VW California, not available in the states. Irony.

  • I'd be a "happy camper" if they'd sell the California IN California!!! :( Why don't they??

  • Nice video - I hope - I will have my T5 (1 year old) in the next 4-5 weeks.

    Greetings from Germany

  • If only they sold these here in California...

  • And it's a Volkswagon!! Bit of Nostalgia here

  • Hey mate, you look really happy. Enjoy it

  • Just picked one up today...still can't figure out how to spin front seats around.

  • @ApologiaTV Excited? With the seats I think it's the same as on the conversion I have now - a lever between your legs at the front to release the rotating mechanism.

The driver's seat is tricky to spin as you need to adjust the steering column and the front-back position and angle of the seat to get it in a position where it has room to spin.

For the record I now have a 2007 T5 Transporter panel van conversion. Couldn't afford the California - the next best thing for less than half the cash.

  • A great review, thanks a lot.

  • Joder!! es la polla!! :D :D :D

  • Excellent video, very interesting. Thank you for posting.

  • o kurwa... piękny

  • I've had a California for 18 months, and I didn't know you could do that in one... (Hide the seat belt catches away under the seat )...

    Very good review :-)

  • fucking german engineering...brilliant. do they sell it in the u.s.? it's ironic we can't get it here in california.

  • Could you tell me the make and model of the top loading fridge please? I assume it is dual voltage and not a three way on gas??

    Thanks for the clip!

  • Can you manually pop up the top? It seems excessive for it to be a push button...

  • @Kbrusky15 Possibly in an emergency but you'd almost certainly break it. It's a bit of precision engineering, not an upturned boat on sticks. :-)

  • the prise tag is a bit of a put off but the spec is very impressive, nice video btw

  • To our friends in the USA - Don't despair. You have access to a vehicle called a Roadtrek. They are made in Canada and seem terrific to me. You can buy from the factory but the main dealers are in California and Florida. They have showers and toilets. They seem better value than the VW California and I wish I could buy a Roadtrek in Europe but I can't!

  • Hi, your review is simply awesome! But please can you modify tags? When i find your video, i try to find it as "Volkswagen California". After some time i need show your review to my granddad, but i try to find it as "Volkswagen multivan or transporter" without success. Can you add to tags these words? Thanks for fantastic review. Greetings from Czech republic.

Please be patient for my bad english.

  • @vrkuvrkuman If it helps people find it, no problem. Nice to hear you appreciated it.

  • зубы бы вставил, телеведущий ))

  • i want one... :(

  • @mepumuckl Not as standard options, but you could probably adapt it to do both those things if you had the tools and a workshop.

  • excellent review! I wish I could pick up a T5 here in Hawaii.... not imported into usa .... sigh

  • are these available in america?

  • Hello, your video is great because you show every fin on this superb Van !!!!

  • GB ftw! . Awesome review

  • has the toilet and shower? or is it possible to buy it as an option perhaps?

  • @Kubaydk There's no toilet or shower option from VW on this. You'd need a bigger van for that really.

  • @horganator but then you also have a bus license to drive a bigger car elller a caravan? or is it just ok with a regular car driving license?

  • @horganator the point is why would you want a toilet and shower!!! Id shit in the woods and piss in a cup... They are good cars mate though I have noticed the Turbochargers love to shit emselves and the A/C 1 way clutch loves to sieze up or rattle. Just a heads up mate ;)

  • Horganator, an absolutely awesome visual presentation of the VW T5- hands down the best on YouTube period! Since the VW T5 is not available in the States, your excellent and detailed video is the closest many of us will get to actually experiencing one. Now I see how the interior is set up! I find some of the T5's interior features very clever.. In a perfect world, VW would improve on the T3(Vanagon/T25)'s rear engine setup(much roomier), with some of the T5's features- & better body design!

  • @jaybee2012 Thanks. It's a very nice van. Shame I had to give it back afterwards!

  • @horganator - I share your regret! Oh well...at least you were able to make such an awesome video for the rest of us here on the other side of the Atlantic to dream about...

  • nice review...wonderful vw

  • Whats the price for this thing in the us?

  • but this being germany youd expect luxurious convenience like that

  • I hate the sound of crying babies! Did you even look at/edit the video at all?? I find the camera angles and camera work in general ANNOYING to say the least. Pure crap, I'll look else where for a proper review.... Pffffff....

  • wow!!!! I like it.... but is very expenxive....

  • german engineerin bitchezz

  • Why not available here in the US? I would buy one tomorrow if I could.

  • I can't understand why they don't import to the USA , maybe the fact that we have to pay £44 k and USA Market won't pay that much

  • I'd buy this van in the US even if it means 25% chicken tax.

In some of the T4 model ads I've seen mentions of toilet and shower. I wonder if they are aftermarket conversions.

  • The California is not just that, it's got a twin turbo engine with 4MOTION (that's advance 4wd in VW speak) and a 7 Speed DSG gear box.

To top it all off. Very nice.

  • For the love of god, VW SELL THIS VAN IN THE US!!!! Absolutely ridiculous that we are unable to get a diesel AWD van in the states. People are paying $35-50k for remodeled Syncro Westy with a subaru engine... the demand is here.

  • In Spain VW California T5 2.5 TDI 140 cv Comfortline 55.000 Euros

  • only 4 seats. tahts crap

  • Esta buenísima!!!

    Es un avión!!

su precio también!! es el precio de un avión!! jaja

thanks for sharing this video, well done!

  • It's call California that our State our name in the United States, and we don't get to have it. VW chame on you!!!

  • @masterlee123 i was thinking the same thing... thats weird they name it after a state and its not available in the states, how lame. I want it. That fridge is genius i thought about just getting an older one and customizing it and couldnt think of a space saving solution for a fridge.

  • We here in the United States we get the cheaper Chrysler VW minivan with the 4.0L v6.

  • Oh my gosh, this is my dream van! Oh volkswagen, bring that over to the US at once! Watching this makes me so sad...

  • Nice van very nice for travel around australia in

  • The best review you can find on youtube for VW California. love it !

  • well done Horganator!

  • Thanks!

  • please please please sell in the us! its called a california, the least you could do is sell it there!

  • Hm... wasn't it at the us where dis guy rent a Camper, put the speed control in, and went to the back to make a coffee? Maybe that's the reason why they don't sell it in the us? ^^

  • excellent video.

too bad that vw won't import this to the U.S.

  • Thanks for the nice review !! i was looking for a westfalia but .. now i want this .. Its perfect for a road tripp !!

  • Where's the toilet and wash facilities though? Would expect some sort of basic provision these days for that sort of thing.

  • No toilet and no washing facilities other than the cold water tap. It is still a van that fits into a standard parking space, down small streets and lanes, and is less than 2m high. I don't think I'd want a toilet sloshing around in the back of a van that size.

  • Very nice. How much did you payed? In Germany its very expensive... 53.000€ for the 140hp Comfortline.

  • I had this van on loan from VW to test, so I didn't pay anything, but the price of that van new would be around £40,000 in the UK. It's the top-spec model with 4WD and almost all the options.

  • @horganator is the 4wd called 4 MOTION, I DONT KNOW TO BE HONEST!, MY SCENCE TEACHER HAS AN 08 PLATE ONE OF THEM, KITTED OT TO DA limit!!, with bike rack, alloys, side skirts, and i think the price not bad! £44,030, cmon, vw offering u luxury!! thanks
