  • Thumbs up if you're on YouTube atm.

  • after unscrewing the screw between the controllers, i cant get the components separated from the base and i don't want to break it, any tips?

  • @mongorianbeef Ensure you're lifting it out from the back of the system, because at the front I believe it's still held in by the ports. It kinda has to lift from the back, slide a tad back, and then come out... Another thought, this video (and PS2) is from 2008, later versions may have slight differences so look for another chassis screw or maybe a glob of glue, if you lift the board a tad the screw/glue will be around the area that lifts the least.

  • I cant find another place to put in the little spring...and i cant see clearly of what you did. can u help me more? plzzz

  • I thouht this was for PS/2 lol not Playstation 2!

  • what happens if u just take the spring off

  • but when I play a game can I close the top

  • Thanks a lot for this tutorial, very good explaining leaves little to no questions. Great job and thank you.

  • so for example i have the original copy of san andreas and i wanted to play the modded one that comes with superman etc. and i swap the original for the backup will it work?

  • @repulic5 As far as I know, that will work. You would have to try it to be sure though.

  • Thumbs up if Imeagainsttheworld sent you here :P

  • i dont understand all of this ps2 modding and rewriting of programs to play a pirated game if you need the original disk for it to work. why not just use your original game instead of wasting valuable time.

  • @reptileguy81 some people have sealed copies of ps1/2 games that they don't want to open. so they download them and play them instead.

  • @reptileguy81 Using this method you can use a modified copy of the dvd-r game to install or run other homebew applications too wiothout having to install a mod chip.

  • By far the best i've seen on how to modify the PS2

  • Thank you, This helped me good. it works!!!!

  • fuck this im getting a fat thumbs up if u agree

  • sorry but isent it bad looking at the PS2 Fat or slim Laser?

i mean looking at it directly or near it, opening the cover or anything when its turned on? is this bad for radiation, because radiation cauzes cancer i think and looking at a laser is bad for your eyes, i cant help looking at the laser if i open the disk tray!

    help! please, anyone... thanks

  • Well more people have the PS2 Slim Black Edition, not as menny people have the silver one, but theres a big difference on the inside of the console motherboard because the sensors are moved,

  • can u use swap magic? i did this and it doesnt work

  • So this is how i can play copied of ps2 games i burn onto a blank DVD disc?

  • What year does your Ps2 need to be,

i have ps2 2007 (i think), and i took out the bolts and took off the top case, but the ps2 looked a lot different that yours, at 3:29 when you take out the modem, i cant do that, and the part where the lens is, the strips are attached to the bottom case. please help.

  • @imcool875 The whole point is to limit the "damage" done to your original disks. We're not here to support your software piracy habits. If people make a game worth playing then you should be buying it looser.

  • sorry but im not doin it because if i fuk up i wont have a ps2.

so im goin to see if my black slim line can do it without bein modded

  • @brambodoodle the black ps2 has a completely different motherboard!

so its completely different to the black one, on the inside of the ps2's

  • can i play burned ps2 games iff i used the swap mod trick ??

and muss i block 3 senors but i have blocked 2 senors and i can play normal ps2 games with opened lid

srry for my bad english i'm from the netherlands

  • No, as mentioned in the information you can NOT play burned PS2 games using this, unless you're swapping from the original to a backup of that same original. This does NOT allow you to play illegally downloaded copies of games.

  • dude i don''t have a button inside my ps2 slim silver.... where can i find it i don't want to open it up...

  • That's kind of an oxymoron, since you have to open it up to do this mod. There's no way, as far as I know, to do this particular mod without opening up the PS2 slim.

  • @viperzeroone i got tissue paper stuck in my [ps2 slim black!

  • You can play burned ps1 games by doing this. You put an original ps1 game (doesn't matter which one) and when the ps1 logo appears quickly open it and swap it out for the burned one and it will start up.

  • THIS IS GREAT GOOD ONE ONE OF DA BEST

  • it works perfectly! thanks

  • Anytime!

  • i have a issue seeing the video with the L shaped piece. i took it out and cant remember how it goes in. i wasnt paying attention.

  • If you watch the video and pause when I remove the L Shaped piece you'll see exactly how it goes. It goes in as an L rotated clockwise 90-degrees, with the "button" side toward the top. Hard to describe, best to see if you can view it in the video.

  • I figured it out once i heard power button im like are you serious and i just set it down and it fit. im like ugh im so dumb. But i got the hot swap working. thanks for the helpful video :D

  • No prob, glad I could help!

  • you open'it and putt it back.

what is with that tape !!!!

  • The tape makes the PS2 think that it was never opened. Without the tape the PS2 would detect that the lid was open, which you don't want it to do.

  • Also I use a pen for the front one, cheap but it works.

  • Haven't tried it, but good tip.

  • It allows you to play burned ps1 games, I did this & burned a few games, gameshark, thps 2 & thps beta "unreleased". when you burn the game look up some tut's & when downloading the games get .bin & .cue files, you need both of them or the burned games won't read.

  • thanks dude! now i know why it doesnt work when i use the original pes2009 for a burned 'yakuza'!!! lol =P

  • Do you know any way to play any game?

  • do u mean any ps2 game ???

  • never mind. But thanks for answering!

  • you do not to cover the biggest button the process works without

  • thank u for saying the button is not a sensor

  • how do u do this for the old/fat ps2? without the swap tool thing cuz my ps2 is completely open including tray. please msg me bak!!!:-)

  • Sorry it took so long to reply.. You actually have to modify the top of it so you can get to the disk without opening the drive. I wouldn't really recommend it though.

  • This mod was very clear and helpful...I decided to remove the dvd brake and tape up the hole from the inside. Only side effect that I noticed is that I no longer see the red / green power light. I'm thinking I may have to go back in and see if I covered it with tape. I believe with a product called magic swap 3, you may be able to play backup dvds without hot swapping the original...Anyway, thanks for the very clean mod!

  • Thanks for the comment. An added note, I went back and checked mine and the light seems to still work. It's possible you covered it up, and if not may have damaged it.

  • Yes, that's what happened. I had to just redo that part a little more careful and I got my red / green power light back. My PS/2 is working perfectly now. This was the best tutorial on a ps/2 softmod. Thank you!

  • You're very welcome, thanks for the comments.

  • does it work with naruto accel 2?

  • Once again, this mod simply lets you hot-swap to a backup disk. You need to have the origional of whatever you're hotswapping to. Works great when you have an origional disk that's got some damage, and want to hot-swap to a backup copy you downloaded off the internet.

  • 7:40 can I just take the spring out??

  • Yea, you can. However you still have to have some way of keeping the rubber stopper from bouncing around. I would suguest if you're going to remove the spring, put a small bit of tape on there to keep it from moving.

  • ok that works thanks man :)

  • I suggest everyone watch this video in full-screen mode. You can see more detail, and for some reason the annotations don't seem to be showing in the normal version.
