@jacobocaj777 the NO REFUNDS line is probably for people who leave the movie because it's too scary. Kind of a marketing thing, makes it sound scarier that they're saying that.
Saw this when I was sick and drowsing, many years ago. The layers of imagery and innuendo in this film will drive you MAD. They could have shot it a a silent; it IS almost silent, the dialogue is incidental. The images and cinematography tell you all you need to know, but you'll debate the real meaning of the entire film, and of certain key scenes, with you friends until either you, or they , or all of you are dead.
hj179 The project I am currently working on is about the old Saltair Resort in the film "Carnival of Souls". It has taken me at least 1150 hrs. so far. I have about another 3-4 wks. to finish and submit to lecturer at end of this term. My eyes are going blurry from all this staring at a computer screen. When it's finished and edited with soundtrack I will post it on my site.

My 3D conversion of this film should be ready in a couple of months. I've spent 6 months working on it so far and some of the 3D scenes look excellent.
Out of respect for the original, I've left the film exactly the same apart from overlaying slightly different titles. The film is a creepy masterpiece. I watched it again a while back and it just haunts you for days afterwards. It's just one of those films that gets your mind thinking about mortality and the afterlife.
Ever notice how in Halloween (1978) Michael Myers appears in windows? John Carpenter has been quoted as saying he was influenced by Carnival of Souls. Herk Harvey appears in windows in Carnival of Souls.
cool :) just pivked up a copy of this today for £1! not colorised either thank god.... it looks nice and creepy and strange, i love old horror movies, this one's been on my list for a long time :)
i love horror movies and have seen hundreds of them, not one movie has been able to scare me, but this movie is just creepy as hell, didnt scare me but this is one of those movies you watch and just think, dammit tonight im going to dream this exact things is happening to me, its going to seem very realistic and im going to wake up in a puddle of sweat lmfao
God, I was watching this with my firends at 3 in the morning and at one point I looked at the window and said, "imagine if his face popped up in the..." WHAM! My friend's brother smacked his hand against the other side... I think I pissed myself that night
This was made with only 30,000 dollars and its considered a great film. Now, Hollywood filmmakers think they need hundreds of millions of dollars just to create a good film. But all you need is a good plot, good acting, and good management, (and a ton of money to get your film promoted. Sad but True). You dont need any 10 million dollar costing action sequences or CGI.
@andr0zz i 100% agree. Look at blair witch & paranormal activity both cost well under 1 million to make and both are scarier than any $100,000,000 horror film staring the newest 'hot actress' -_-
aahah so my dad tried to make me watch it, and when it started i positioned myself to where i couldnt see it cause i hate scary movies, and now seeing this trailer, its kinda sad that, thats what i was afraid of seeing D: im a whimp :(((
No refunds because it's actually a very creepy movie and viewers might get scared enough to demand their money back. It's just a hook to get people interested.
This is actually a very good low budget movie, very creepy.
@jthix2112 Other hokey ways theaters used to "hook" viewers of horror movies was by providing a barf bags to each patron at the door, or offering "$1,000,000 insurance coverage" to anyone who died of fright during the film.
That was the creepiest part of the movie for me. What's great is that this is what she's seeing as she's playing an organ hypnotically. She just starts to see these images as she's sitting at a church organ.
Great film, saw it late night on Channel 4 back in the 90's. Gonna get it on DVD...I think it's a far better film than the original Night of the living dead. I'm sure I read somewhere that it influenced Romero.
