Hi. I went to the local asian market and found what I think are seaweed stems (see my seaweed salad video on youtube), These stems were not in a package or salted. They were all loose in some kind of liquid. I put some in a plastic bag, took them home, rinsed them, parboiled, added the other ingredients to make a salad and they are absolutely delicious. I just want to make sure that what I bought is seaweed stems. Can you view my video and let me know? thanks
If you soak the seaweed stems for enough time in water, it will not be too salty.. or you can check other food for your dad in my blog... anyway.. you are a sweet daughter..^^
I do not leave the seaweed stems in the water over night I just rinse until i can't taste the salt any longer and it really isn't that bad with a bit salt in it.
hi there i live in newzealand and love the korean side dishes I get with my mains...I normally go to korean restaurants mainly for the side dishes! I love this one and the bean sprouts I am so happy I can make for my family at home..korean food is becoming real popular in this country! :)
are you asking this question from my spicy seafood noodle video ??? the reason you rinse the noodles in cold water is.. it makes the noodle texture.. more elastic and chewy.. since I was going to serve it as a warm dish.. hot soup.. I skipped the part.. I hope my answer is good enough..
I heard that there are a lot of Korean people in Toronto. Then, I guess there will be some Korean grocery stores. I think you can find there. I will send you a link from my blog,... so you will know how it looks like to buy. :) thanks !!
I watch a fair amount of Korean dramas and I notice whenever they eat in this one show the table is covered in small amounts of food in little bowls. It looks pretty fancy to me, but they act like its normal. Is this kind of meal typical?
yes..that's typical.. we eat rice and different kinds of soup with several side-dishes every meal... hehe.. some side-dishes.. you can keep in the refrigerator and eat for several days.. so don't have to cook everytime you eat.. and each day.. you can add some fresh side-dishes you eat that day.. thanks :)
i"m christine ong, from phillipines. you"ve been a great help to me to eat more vegetable. if you could make sidedishes made of firm tofu, i will love it.... thank you again.
hehe..cool~~ you love seaweed.. we have different kinds of dishes made with seaweed in Korea !! If you have chance to get this in the store, try it someday :D Thanks !!
hey.. Do you cry when you cut the onions?? Come on~~ You are PEWPEWFIGHTER~~~ can't believe you are crying because of the vegetable, onion..kkk(jk) =P Thanks for comment ^^
Wow, you tried this dish too. I do think you tried many Korean dishes. :) If it has strong seaweed flavor, some people will not like it. Soak in the water or boil them in the boiling water short time helps it.
haha.. yep I like to use chopsticks when cooking. lol thanks for comment !!!
your voice and music go very well 2gether ....I was allmost to fall asleep! :)...Good food!

I was wondering, will this dish be too salty? I want to cook delicious food for my dad but he has high blood pressure and can't have too much salt.

Yes, most Korean meals are served with a variety of vegetables, served in small bowls. The korean word for it is banchan.
