You did great Max; don't listen to all those other guys who say you need magic in your performance. Save your magic for a different type of performance. You did very well here and your presentation was flawless! The story was a good idea; rather than just standing there doing moves with no interaction. GREAT WORK!!
Bravo - nice job. As a 42 year old who is just starting to learn card manipulations, I feel inspired by the skill and obvious enthusiasm of this young man. It's always a pleasure to watch a difficult thing well done.
just think of these parents that train their kids to join a circus or gymnasts. some gymnasts are teenagers and win in the olympics. age has nothing to do with it. how about soccer players? the examples i could give would go forever
people that say he is good and consider his age as a factor have no idea what they are talking about, one could start doing this at 10 years old or even younger and since he is 17 he would be doing it for a decade or almost, it is not that complex to understand, practice is really all you need. at a young age like that you also learn rather quick compared to a young adult or a older one. personally i think he is awesome but age has nothing to do with it.
Well that was awkward... lol but i guess its tough to make it comfortable when you have are just walking up to people telling them "look what i can do". I know that it was a requirement for the tournament but i would have taken a different approach to it. The moves were solid! dont get me wrong, but i thought that the story took a lot away from it. Not so much the words but just more the way it was told. It sounded very memorized and very insincere.
kirb, its XCM (xtreme card manipulation) ge was making a video for the world championships of "XCM" not magic..he needed to show off his skill infront of a live audience in order to win.
umm that was awkward you should never show off your skills . jus do tricks man , dat was lame some ppl dont like others showing off . whats the point of you showing flourishes if they are not involved ...
Wow, Who cares if there not doing magic. Magic and flourishing are two different things, none is better than each other. If they are a flourisher so be it.
hey max, u got good moves and u got good skills. The vid was pretty good but considering the popularity of xcm... i dont think many people appreciate it. Just to compare xcm to magic...magic is sumthing that has fascinated people for years and years and people just get amazed because its MAGIC! But xcm it can be a form of entertainment u gota work on ur presentation, or maybe add a bit of magic or a bit of sumthing else to it :)
one thing, i didnt like towards the end, where you caught the single card with your hand on the other side of your head, it made you look very akward
and your so good at L cuts, so WHY would you do them the way you do them? sticking your arms against your body. it looks, truthfully, terrible. let them off your body, and give each arm a motion, whether it be up and down or crossing eachother or something
really, i have never been this much entertained by an hl style vid
Aside from the faggots below me, you did a great job considering your age. I know you don't have a great deal of audience management experience considering you didn't like magic to begin with, so of course with those two factors you don't have any presentation style down. Great job, it's hard to have concrete execution in real life settings.
First of all, there;s no problem with you stating your opinion. I'm not arguing that you're opinion is wrong, so don't get all defensive about this. Your comment about masturbating has absolutely NO relevance either to Max's performance, or to your post. And I disagree that XCM has no place in a live/restaurant setting. Max does need to work on his story and presentation, but to say that XCM in general has no place in a restaurant setting seems to me to be very close-minded.
Stick to the XCM contests and stay out of the restaurants. I must say until you work alot on your "story" Don't ever perform that again for people. Even jugglers have more emotion and audience interest that was displayed here. Your are good XCMer but that does not translate to a good performer. sorry to be so blunt but needs a lot of work.
I'm actually kind of disapointed in you. I am truly amazed by your videos, but I have to say that this one did not really meet the standards you usually have. Maybe you don't do well around people?
I agree that the actual execution of the moves was excellent, and you are undoubtedly a very talented guy. However, the name of this round is 'live performance', and it occurs to me that you could have done exactly the same thing without an audience. Also, your patter didn't add anything to it - you were simply narrating what they could already see. Finally (and I hope I don't sound like too much of a grump), it didn't build up to anything. It just stayed at the same level throughout.
Not trying to be mean here but being a professional restaurant magician myself, here are my thoughts on this and I am sure many in the field will agree with me. Although the moves were somewhat impressive, this type of "showing off" is inappropriate for any restaurant entertainer. You, as a restaurant entertainer, are there to entertain the guests and the only one impressed in the video was you.
Personally, I thought the entertainment of it was low. Your voice was monotoned the entire time...you had no build up to anything. IMO, make it more entertaining and not all about what you can do with a deck of cards. It looked very arrogant from my point of view, "I can do this" and "I can do that".
Secondly, I wouldn't have thrown anything around that baby like you did. Even if you have liability insurance, you hit that child and you're done for.
WOW I admire your work so much... XCM live... dang...trust me I tried...and at one point I had 52 card pick up in front of an audience :P...fun times...
So is this like street flourishing? Kina weird but cool i guess
