  • @AgentWendi they oate to be

  • @rawdonwaller oates is 62 i believe!

  • This sounds more like a Flight of the Concords tune, than the old H&O stuff.

  • sheesh, all sounds killer, but John sounds like a chainsaw.....

  • Fuck! And Oates looks bloody good for, what, late forties?

  • @rawdonwaller early 60s, actually.

  • @sjorsdehustleriffic haha that made me giggle

  • Watching this vid, for at least the 5th time, has been one of the greatest musical expiriences I have ever had, no lie. I mean maybe I have been completely, musically sheltered, but I have thoroughly enjoyed every second of this!

  • what the hell do you have to do to get in the rock and roll hof damm!!!!!!!

  • It seems like they're trying to out do each other. In a friendly competition sense.

  • John's voice is very sexy & soulful!

now, finally, I noticed it :-)

  • I always felt Darryl Hall just inhaled all the light and John Oates was ignored. I think he is extremely underrated. He has a great voice and has written some fine songs.

  • @talksport / SKY take note some off air mic stuff is OK!

  • talksport / SKY take note some off air mic stuff is OK!

  • Real artist doing great American Pop Soul music.

  • Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!

  • john needs to sing more lead vocals, he has a great voice

  • POWERFULL !!!!!

  • Damn these guys are great!!! Hall and Oates still got it! Just goes to show you that when you are in your 60's you can still be young!

  • thats the hall and oates i know....love it....

  • Now this was a mix !!!! John soundss great .. and so does Daryl ... just the purrrfect balance... I sure would love a seat in that balcony to catch this for realzzz! xxo

  • Hall & Oates playing and singing material that's up to their talent. It is a fresh and impressive take on an O'Jays classic. Darryl actually never hid his passion for black music and it shows in a lot of his works. He's got what it takes to deliver the material in a legit way.

  • question to our guitarists here on youtube..isnt that one of the greatest intros in the popular music? and isnt that that things only got better from here?

  • Aren't your children like little backstabbers then? all they want is to "take your place" right? Do your homework. Pay attention. Worthiness is not about laziness.

  • @SuddenSparkles u r right. but now the kidis are in bed and we talk about a masterpeice which had one of the greatest riffs on the smiling face :)..trop of 70s soul. and we talk here about a white man playing black music.

  • this is great, thanks for sharing.

  • Such a cool jivin tune - you guys need to sing this live!!! it could be another classic like "I can't go for that" tune.... extend the melody and the soulful vocal sounds.... I could listen to this one all day long....

  • Okay John...I see u...love these guys!!!

  • Daryl's voice is a classic...Grew up listening to him and John Oates....The Best...Keep the music playing Daryl...It's food for our soul. Your songs bring many people happiness, comfort and joy. More power to you and your crew. I wish I could watch you sing live one day...

  • Hall and Oates, T Bone, and the band are all great, end of story.

  • H&O are the most successful duo of all time and not in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame- how ridiculous is that?!

  • @illbebeck Either they have bad agents or they are not held in very high regard.

  • @ajack2boys It actually has nothing to do with their agents at all. The Rock & Roll HOF is a total joke and it is somewhat political who they nominate. There are quite a few significant others who have not been nominated/inducted, but H&O are one of the standouts, in my opinion.

  • @illbebeck H & O aren't in the rock and roll hall of fame? You are right, something is wrong with them not being there.

  • Daryl was rightfully the front man for Hall & Oates. He's tall, good looking, and he can sing, unlike John.

  • Love you Eliott, miss you T-Bone. Love you Daryl

  • True music like this...has no wall or time line. It will go on in so

many ways forever. The true test of GREAT MUSIC.

  • Totally A Great Share & Post!!!!.5*s..Love This Song & How True It Is!!!!!...Love Hall & Oates Too!!! Thankyou aristacourt....Anita..

  • You need to put out a record of all these wonderful songs from your lovely home.

  • This is a weak and pale imitation of the O'Jays.

  • @ajack2boys- What do you mean weak and pale? Those are strong words. No way. Just bec. the ojays were the original doesn't mean they were better. Their sound was was nowhere near this version. It was crude and unrefined. H&O has a tight sound. It's cleaner and has a more R&B/Jazz flavor. Remember the original isn't always better. This is one good example.

  • @RGN07 Reference points define perceptions. What you refer to as "crude and unrefined" I regard as passionate and vibrant. What you hear as tight and clean I hear as synthetic and flaccid. Since the performers are unlikely to care, there's no point to our arguing. However, as a life long jazz devotee, I must add that I cannot find a single note in this performance that has anything to do with that particular genre, however elastic a definition one cares to apply. Peace.

  • @ajack2boys You take this too deep dude. It's music meant to be enjoyed. Who cares about a single note that has anything to do with the genre. You complicate things too much. As for me, this sounds better than the Ojays. You don't agree? Fine!

  • @ajack2boys Go fuck yourself, you pretentious horse's ass.

  • @MsDiesIrae9 I don't engage in dialogue with stupid, vulgar guttersnipe.

  • IF OATES HAD A FLAPPER HAT ON HE'D BEAR A STRIKING RESEMBLANCE TO CHICO MARX.

  • These guys sound so great!

    Miss you T-Bone.

  • This proves that age doesn't beat skill.

  • Baba Booey....Baba Booey !!!

  • Baba- Booey Baba-Booey!!!

  • @breadmanjp -Funny but true. Resemblance is there

  • Ensemble, Hall and Oates se surpassent toujours.

    Deux voix que j'adore.

  • Not a surprise that a guy called "Liberalssuck" would make such a stupid comment - Oates wrote most of their hits you crack pot!

  • @EFISHANT -Oates is an intregal part of the sound with the backing vocals, arrangements, production, guitar parts besides being a great writer. As far as writing most of the hits, the songs that he didnt have a writing credit are-Rich Girl,Private Eyes,Kiss on my List and Say it isnt So. But besides that he pretty much co wrote everything else with Daryl, but also came up with the chorus to Shes Gone first and then he and Daryll worked on the verses together. Both great great musicians.

  • @Markgr122 : wow , thanks for the lesson - Time to worry about something important now!

  • @EFISHANT - I actually had been watching a great Hall and Oates live DVD By Request recently. And until about a week ago didnt know that every song wasnt cowrote strictly. Wasnt aware that Every Time you Go Away was cowrote by the two until a couple days ago. anyway Have a great day!

  • @Markgr122 -last bit of info and yes it is ridiculous but Sara Allen who was Daryls girlfriend for 27 years and who Sara Smile was writtin about is a cowriter of many of their hits from Out of Touch, Private Eyes,Did it in a minute( the last two with her sister Janna Allen who died of cancer in 93 also a songwriter) and Kiss on my list being cowritten soley by Janna and Daryl. I play a few instruments so Ive always been interested in this kinda stuff.

  • @Markgr122 It wasn't co-written. It was written by Daryl Hall.

  • @MsDiesIrae9 - My mistake. Great tune(Everytime)

  • You got to remember both these guys had an amazing synergy. 11 number 1 hits.

    Not too shabby.

  • Wow, they are tight this sounds great.

  • Damn....Oates ACTUALLY DOES HAVE SOMETHING TO CONTRIBUTE....He is definitely Darryl's "Tonto..."

  • T-Bone was the back bone of Hall and oates. A true master of all instruments and styles. "To live music is to love life thru song." - Marvin gaye

  • yeah, YES!!!

  • awesome but i know not to think anything lesss

  • so good...

  • Wonderful version!

    I love this song!

    R.i.P. T-Bone

  • No one can ever do it like the O jays

  • Truth, but he's still pretty good.

  • R.I.P., T-Bone Wolk

  • RIP buddy ... you and ole Bobby can get things started up there until we get with you ...

  • RIP T-Bone

  • Daryl Hall is incredible but not too keen on John Oates.

  • I can't agree more with Daryl when he calls it a "stupidly good song". The bossanova tempo sounds much more modern than the now dated original version of the Ojays. Pure joy!

  • Nice to hear John and Daryl singing together.

  • hope you can upload possession obsession from the same episode? thanks.

  • i wish Hall and Oats would get together and crank out some more hits.i loved Hall and Oats in the 80's.

  • Hall and Oats in the 70's were just as good as the 80's. Some of the stuff on War Babies is fantastic. The album didn't do well, but alot of great songs on it. Todd Rundgren produced it. Wish they would play something off that record!!! Would love to hear 70's Scenario!!!

  • i am really hoping though that they can sing something together that will make it on the music charts.i have always been a huge fan of there's.

  • I agree curvy71, i hope they can too!!!

  • ok i guess 2 great minds think a like

  • The O'Jays are the best, and love the Daryl Hall and John Oate's renditions of their songs...fabulous..H & O are my favorite duo of all time...what they do......hahha

  • The Boys have still got it WOOT !!!

  • about time john show up.those other back up singers was making me sick.

  • I've been barfing tacos to those back up singers here in Mexico too. It's about time they got fellow Mexican Jonny O back in the lineup, Amer cain assholes.

  • Really??? I think Oates singin is a little over the top!........Is it me? its great to see all these guys together but oates is more of a back up singer I think! great song writer and guiratist!

  • gozz !...In this case, oates is singing in a Falsetto.Oates always was a great singer (check out the albums) but Hall was the tall good looking one so he got all the 'Glory'.

BTW Keith Richards also has a very good voice, but you know the rest.

  • 2:55 haha awesome!

  • John is awesome on this one!

  • Can you think of anybody that could cover this tune better?,I can,t.

  • this style of making music could be and should be or become the future of making ....music and ,,,,,,,,well at least for real music lovers, that want to see real musicians playing, then the session is up for sale,.i think we all know what is being marketed as for music now.........

  • Good job as always. What amazing vocals.

  • good stuff xx

  • Come on John! Love the song!

  • o'jays were another gamble & huff phenom...TSOP, babeeee!

  • The only thing you need is Me for backup vocals I LOVE THIS!!

  • This is just right up H&O's alley.....Top Class!

  • As Grandma Used To Say,"Keep A Close Eye On Your Enemy and A Closer Eye On Your Friends".

  • I think that was Don Corleone......LOL

  • Betrayal. We've all experienced it one way or another. I love this team of musicians and I hope they stay strong together a long time. May they never let boredom get in the way.
