I got the orange box for PS3 and played it first there. I figured that someone somewhere had carried the gnome the entire way threw the game.

Never did i expect it to be an actual achievement on PC

this is the hard way. all i did was quick save directly before, then stepped out onto the ledge and tossed it onto the side of the bridge you land the car on. much easier.

I did This. I dragged a stupid garden gnome through the entire game. I put it in the rocket. I killed all the striders. I launched the rocket. And no achievement.

This just shows how well valve leave bugs in the game.

no problem. and sometimes (on my computer at least) turning cheats off still disables cheats. so what i do is i enter sv_cheats 0 multiple times in a row then quicksave and quick load. that usually does the trick

I thought of the same thing, but i used a taller crate. And also, the pickaxe model has some glitch that if you jump while standing on it, it will fling you across the map, and not up, so no falling damage. I used it to get all the way to the bridge, lol.

I like how this guy appears in L4D2.. Ya have to lug the stupid gnome from near the beginning to the end.. He takes up nearly half the space of your screen which makes it hard to see in dark places where vision is limited, and he is so annoying on the roller coaster because if you drop him he flies off and is nowhere to be found. Perhaps he was shot into L4D2 in the rocket.

drive slowly and watch out for bumps and stuff. put the gnome inside the car so you can see when he falls out.

or, you can use the grav gun to shoot the gnome ahead, then you drive up to him, shoot him ahead, drive up to him, etc.

if you lose the gnome, you can just load an autosave back where you still have him.

you only really need to shoot him ahead when the hunter chopper is chasing you through the railways... if the chopper shoots your car while the gnome is inside he'll go flying out and you'll lose him.

I forgot to mention I quickly deactivated the cheats and 'noclip' once I got the gnome to the other side.

As long as you activate a (PC) cheat and quickly deactivate it when an automatic save commences, it's usually okay. Well, in my case ... cheats do work at certain times, but definitely not all. I feel silly when cheating sometimes and I think being creative is best, like shown in this video. However, there were times I was just out of patience and emotion got the best of me. Haha

I'm PC + Steam: I log into Steam, go to my games list, highlight Episode 2, Right-click & click on 'Properties' & click on 'Set launch options' & type this in there: -applaunch -dev -tconsole & click 'OK'.

Once you're in the game, press the ~ key and it should bring up the console. To activate the cheats -- type: sv_cheats 1. To deactivate the cheats -- type: sv_cheats 0.

MUCH EASIER WAY TO DO THIS: As soon as you enter the area and see the bridge (before alyx opens the blue force field door) just SAVE and fire the gnome over to the far left side of the bridge. Done!

Well in reference to the video unlike everyone else, you can also just shoot the gnome on to the bridge and pick it up when you come around.
