HI sorry i know NOTHING about photography but i wanna to make different size ones for my bf for vday and i was wondering what/where is that black plastic ring from that fits inside the LED ring? does it snap onto the camera? is it necessary? thanks for any help! ^-^
hey quick question: what do you do if you want more light or more powerful leds? is there a larger step up ring of some sort to make a 6" diameter ring light of sorts? would be cool to see. the one you made is interesting and serves a purpose but i want one bigger.
I used 8 AA batteries with a 9V clip to power it after the fact. I got rid of the G11 and now have a T1i and a real flash, so this was shipped to a forum member for free :)
G11 is a great camera and I was very happy with it. I just wanted something that I could use and have more options with lenses and accessories. G11 is a great upgrade from a normal point and shoot as far as i'm concerned. I may go back to the G series one day when I get tired of lugging my 10 lbs bag around...
Hiya! Thanks for the simple, straight forward tutorial. I just got my G11 yesterday and stumbled across this video. I know you say "Give 'er 12 volts," but what am I using as a power supply? I'm not sure what you plugged it into. (Sorry if the question was TOO elementary as I'm not a electronics pro.)
Acccidently stumbled upon the video but it looks
Like iron mans ark reactor. Lol

If it works, don't hate it. I like ghetto setups when I can save over $400 and if looks does not matter.
Obviously this would be perfect with some kinda portable power supply that you can carry on easily.

Cool!
Did you not like the G11 or are you a professional / super enthusiast photographer?
I have been tinkering with a thought of bying me a G11 for christmas present. I assume that I won't be disappointed?
I'm no photographer, but I think my old ixus 800is is holding me back, and that the pictures are grainy even with low iso.
I just want to have good quality pics of my projects and shoot some nice shots of my bike etc. :)
