You don't play Mass Effect for graphics and multiplayer. Making a game like COD is a much easier task because it can always fall back on its multiplayer platform. Also, COD requires much less creativity as it's only humans and only human weapons/tech. Mass Effect invented something brand new. You play Mass Effect for a deep storyline, interactive characters, and fast paced RPG type action.

I'm honestly afraid that Shepard might not be a playable character, before you call me crazy think about this:

The game is a multi-platform release. Bioware wants all gamers to have a great experience (no matter what game they started with), last time they killed Shepard just so that the game would seem like it starts from the 'beginning' and so that you 'make your character'. To my logic, adding a new character to play with would make it easy for Bioware to make a 'fresh start'...
