  • i have hooded eyelids and i used the MAC and i found that after aout 8 hours of wear my eyeshadow had started to crease, i do have slightly oily skin as is but i was told that the bare canvas would not crease annnnd it did. i also noticed that the colors dont pop as well. they show better just on my skin than the primer. so im not too happy about spending $21 on it!! i havent tried UDPP but hopefully its better!!

  • Urban decay's is more rougher. That's why is makes the makeup stay longer. MAC's is supposed to be more softer. Try blending really opposing eye-shadows on each of them, you'll see that MAC's works better. They're both good all around. So it really depends on what look you're going for, for choosing which primer/base to use.

  • great video, although Bare Canvas isnt intended to be a primer. Its a great base colour.

  • i like the urban decay but the bottle it comes in is crap it would be much more easier if it can be squeezed out instead than having to freaking cut it. they should freaking change the bottle

  • urban decay seems veryyyy needed lol i am going to buy some but it is like 16.00 or 17.00 dollars a bit pricey but probably worth it

  • so mac creases

  • i'd definetly go with the UDPP becuz the color appears more vibrant....thanks for the review :)

  • well actually udpp is a actually primer and a paint is a shadow thats why the udpp makes it pop more (im sure u know that by now!)

  • Very good comparison. I have been loyal to UD for a few years and was very curious about the MAC paint. This put an end to the curiosity.

    Thanks dustbunnies

  • pretty good but UDPP is a primer and mac paint is not. two different products.

  • How much does the Urban Decay Primer Potion cost?

  • $16.00...

  • $ 18.00 Canadian

  • £11

  • £8

  • i like your work, but you should really include the names of shadows, brushes and other products that you are using to give more validity to the review.

    good job, though.

  • great video !!!

I really like how you compare products :)!!

  • I love your reviews, I think you are 1 of the best & your 1 of the 1st I come to for reviews, your not doing it to "show off your makeup collection" and you don't do it in a "rude way", you are very likeable, love what you do!

  • Hi I am looking to buy a good primer but I can't decide my main concern are my very sensitive eyelids. I have used mac paint pots before but they seem to irritate and itch my eyelids very much .

Do you think that urban decay could be used for more sensitive eyes becase from what I see it looks a little less heavy than mac?

I have seen many videos that this is the best primer you could get.

    What do you think?

    thank you

  • I have the pot paint of mac and the crease is fine, but I do notice that its alittle more darker then my skin since I am hispanic.

  • When using the paint, have you thought of squeezing a bit out (upside down) onto the back of your hand, then using a brush? Not sure, it might help you not dirty up your hands :)

  • But can you get the hole product out of the UDPP because I mean it is a plastic bottle , right?

  • im right handed but i squess with my left hand. its funny i wouldnt have thought about osmehting as small as that. lol. anyway it dosent bother me so maybe thats why.

  • haha i guess it bothered me that much that I had to go on and on about it :) I should just use my darn left hand I guess :)

  • The MAC paint is showing more sheer because you applied it before the video. But when you aplied the blue eyeshadow on the Urban Decay Primer Potion you aplied the primer in the video. Thats why the U.D. is showing more what do you call it .. more true 2 colour. Thats just a little thing i spotted out ...

  • well, like any good scientist would, I tried this again :). This time I put the UDPP on first (like 2 secs before the BC) and then the bare canvas. then I tried what I did again with Nocturnelle (a purple MAC e/s) and I got the exact same results.

I happens in the video is actually what happens in real life. When I want to subdue my eyeshadow look, I put Bare canvas on my eyelid to bring down the color a little. if i want to play it up i use UDPP. thanks for your observation tho :)

  • I love this video, I have been trying to decide betweem MAC and UD....I now am going with the UD. Thanks a million!!

  • it's definitely the better all around choice IMO :)

  • It's nice to see an intelligent review that points out highlights and downfalls. Good work. As a hardcore make-up enthusiast (and huge fan of both Urban Decay and MAC), I really appreciate this, expecially considering I've been looking at both these products without much prior feedback. Very helpful. Keep it up.

  • thank you so much! Your opinion means a lot to me.

  • good video review.

    where's your face girl!?

  • glad you enjoyed it! see my "introducing myself" vid ;)

  • where do u get urban decay?

  • at: Sephora stores, sephora . com, urbandecay . com, drugstore . com

    hope that helps!

  • wow!! thanx so much for this!!! i agree with you i use the mac and it is a lil dry!!! i was wondering the difference between the two!! i think imma go buy urban decay and try it out!!! :)

  • you won't be disappointed!

  • whats with every video i watch its all britney spears songssssss wtffffffff im not hating lol

  • iuno gets u in a happy mood i guess :)

this is one of the few videos i have w/music .. one of them has c-span in the background if u prefer that to brit lol

  • went a lil crazy a bought 5 paints on ebay- 4 were mini (3.5g i think) but i sooo regret it now. they'r messy and u always get too much product comin out. think i wel sell them on!paint pots r better i think- tho i dnt own one yet! hav u tried any of the mcqueen paint pots?

  • so sorry to hear that :(. U can put those paints into sample jars if u have them! paint pots do seem more along my lines :). I have not tried mcqueen!

  • Paint pots take care of a lot of the problems you talked about with the MAC paints. Also, you can apply the paint right to a brush and not get any of your hands/fingers dirty.

  • good point. i'm actually going to go to MAC today and look at a bunch of paint pots :). they are a little easier to control

  • I also like fluidline as a base :D

  • Thank you so much for this review. I have been debating with the same products to get for a while and this has helped a lot. It's answered all my questions. Thanks again!

  • glad I could help!

  • I know what you mean about the bare canvas feeling dry. I went to the MAC counter to check it out because I've heard raves about this product. I tested it on my hand and HATED how it felt. It's hard to describe it was kind of mousse like, but drier. Yeah. And even on me (I think in MAC terms I'm an NW20 and lighter range, not sure) bare canvas was really white looking. Needless to say I didn't get it.

  • how do you find the UDPP in comparison?

  • I like it much better. It's creamier and not as dry. Even though I have oily lids it really helps to control it. Most of my shadows show up much brighter on it than on just bare skin or even my MAC paint pot. The only problem is that darned packaging. I cut mine open and transfer it to an empty sample jar. I find that to be more sanitary as well since I can use a brush and not the wand which picks up stuff from your lid and gets put into the whole bottle.

  • that's a good point. Since everyone seems to be sawing open their UDPP I guess I will try it too :)

  • hi, if u put the UDPP in a container wil it not dry up? it really is a shame about the original packaging!!

  • Umm... no. The original packaging is plastic and the applicator screws on. The jar I put it in is plastic and screws on too. It's the same thing, just a different shape. As long as it's closed it should be good. I've had mine like this for a while and there's no sign of drying.

  • ok, thanks.

  • the udpp will not dry up in an alternate container so long that it has a screw lid. I'm guessing ur referring to the fact that the packaging allows some product to be wasted? yeah..sucks :). saw it open!

  • udpp

SHOULD I PUT ON EYE SHADOW WHILE ITS STILL A LITTLE WET/ CREAMY

    ORRR

    WHEN ITS ALLL DRY?\\

    AND WHATS THE DIFFERENCE?

  • hey! I never actually thought about that.. It seems that the UDPP drys relatively fast after you apply it anyways which is when I apply the shadow on top! So yeah, just apply UDPP and start putting on color as soon as you smooth it over your lid. You should be good to go. This is also how I see other girls use it :)

  • I always apply my eyeshadow after the primer dries a little because from what I've seen, usually the primer product that is applied to the face is suppose to dry onto your skin. The primer is just suppose to help the product go on smoother onto the skin and adhere to the skin. hope that helps ya! =)

  • i love your top !!

  • Thank you somuch, looks like I got some homework to do!

  • hopefully these reviews will aid your purchase decisions :)

  • Hi, Thanks for the review, may I ask what the eyeshadow kit you have is, here can I find it b/c ive been looking for a good eyeshadow kit, and yours looks like its really good, Thanks!

  • the eyeshadows I show in the video are in a palette which I put together myself! You can buy the empty palettes at a MAC store for $12. They hold 15 eyeshadows. Then you can fill the palette with pan eyeshadows from MAC (Or any brand that can fit in there really). I tried to choose colors from all parts of the spectrum :)

  • Now... I just need to get UDPP over to where I'm living! I've got the same kind of Asian lids you're talking about! Argh...

  • You know I've tried both and the only issue I have with the potion is that it's seems so much harder to blend the shadows once they're on there. You're right in that it definately grabs the colors but when you want to blend there's an issue.

  • hmm i thin you are right. when you put a shadow on the UDPP it just wants to stick :). I do find myself blending a long time with my MAC 224. I guess when you're in a minimalistic mood then Bare Canvas is the way to go! But if you're going out for something special maybe UDPP will be your weapon of choice :) thanks for bringing that up!

  • This is such an awesome review! You are such a life saver! I have been debating between the two for soooo long! this confirms it! I'm sooo getting UDPP now! THank you!

  • yay I'm glad I could help! UDPP won't let you down :) unless maybe if u have super oily lids.. but yeah! let me know how it goes :)

  • where can i find the urban decay primer????

  • wow; the UDPP looks much better than the mac, paint like the shadow comes off as a complete different color.

  • yeah! that was really surprising! Hopefully I gave them both a fair representation :)

  • try putting the paint directly on a brush instead of your hand. then nothing gets dirty.

  • wow..duh! That sounds like a good idea :). Thanks for the tip

  • no problem. glad i could help =)

  • This is off the topic, but, may I ask?..Where did you get your sweater from?? it's super cute =)

  • Glad you asked :) I got it from Victoria's Secret! $19 on sale now..they have a lot of sexy yet casual pieces. Happy Holidays!

  • =D...i love the review...

  • thank you it was great

  • Such a detailed review, I love it:) Thanks!! I really like your videos.

  • thank you! :)
