doesn't hooker have headers that exit the fender. I had a 69 dart big block years ago. I had the headers custom built that went by the fender wall.

Yeah, I think they offer fenderwell headers, but you have to cut the inner fenders for the headers to pass through.

We used Hooker Super Comp 5481, but had to modify the tubes to clear the pitman arm. I think there are other options available now that fit better. Check the big block dart forums.

@Mr68charger440 Not sure if it helps, but I had an old '76 Ramcharger (this was in the mid-90's) and was recommended modifying Doug Thorley headers as no one had headers that fit w/o mods. Are Thorleys still around? LOL

Well it does have a reverse pattern manual valve body, so you do have to shift it manualy. Just no clutch.

@joeelutz back in the late 70's I had a '69 Roadrunner with one of those manual valve bodies that I installed. The vehicle didn't have near the engine that this Dart has, but those manual's are interesting to drive with 4.10 gears and a stall convertor.

It is a handfull. Even with mini tubs, a locker and 10" wide wheels, traction is very limited. In first gear you hit the gas and it sounds like the engine is free reving in neutral because it spins the tires so fast, then hits the rev limiter before you have time to think about shifitng.

Greetings from down under! Back in the 80's I used to have the Aussie equivalent of the dart - a VF Valiant with a slighltly different front end but not available with the BB V8 Hemi. Our softcock Govt. wouldn't allow it :(

@ExUSSailor I believe the old slant six was a 225 and not a hemi. I used to own a '71 VH charger (aussie variant) with a 265 hemi . With a set of Weber carbs, a cam and a bit of work it was common to get 300hp out of them. Not bad for a 40 year old OHV pushrod straight 6.

To my knowledge, Mopar is not offering a 572 Hemi, but other companies may be building them. I think you are thinking of a 572 big block Chevy being offered by GM.

Yeah. I wanted to go with a set of big billet wheels and steering wheel, but the customer wanted the "nostalgic sleeper" look The wheels are actually police car wheels that have been narrowed in the front to 4.5" and widend in the rear to 10" to fill in the mini tubs.

A 528 Hemi is no bigger on the outside than a 426 Hemi. It's only bigger internally ie. a bigger bore and stroke. They were able to squeeze 426 Hemis into '68 Darts from the factory
