  • Must agree with you dr watson, the later years at the casino did go a bit pearshaped but the early years were special, though maybe the peaple that came into wigan with there twisted wheel and torch badges thought it was better at those clubs and then them before them.

  • Has any body got 'I O U' by Jonhnny Caswell. It was on the B-side of this track on the Bootlegs that were knocking about in the seventies. It used to get played in M's a lot and I would love to hear it again.

  • @child1959 I have some crystal mansion videos from 1974. check it out. Not I O U though!

  • Mr M's Wigan Casino - mid to late seventies - TAKE ME BACK!!

  • i love the old Detriot labels trying to compete with Motown back then

  • great sound from the early days of northern scene.thanks for posting.

ps watson your ante casino posts are wearing thin now.whatever venue we went to the early years at the casino were mega.

  • @zantepete Seriously, I don't recall ever criticising "the early years" at Wigan - it was later on that it all went pear shaped, as you well know. If they'd carried on playing records of this calibre I may have even continued going there myself! However, even from day one they played way too much pop for my taste (or have you forgotten the Cherry People etc.?) There WERE alternatives to Wigan Casino, even then.

  • whats the cherry people

  • @gar861646 The Cherry People were a 60s US pop group in the vein of the Monkees et. al. "And Suddenly" on US Heritage/UK MGM was a popular side at Wigan Casino C.early 1974. It's not all THAT bad for a pop song I suppose, but hardly measures up to proper Northern SOUL classics like Johnny Caswell or the Tomangoe's!

  • I listened to and danced to Johnny Caswell and the Crystal Mansion in the late 60's, early 70's when they were doing the rock club scene all over southern New Jersey, USA. They sounded NOTHING like this, it was pure funk and dance stuff. Thanx for this post!

  • Awesome, thank you

  • People I Need Help Ok Im Trying To Look Up A Song And IDK Who It's By And What The Song Is Called So Here Is Some Of The Words I Know

"FORGIVNESS FORGIVNESS EVEN IF EVEN IF YOU DON'T LOVE ME ANYMORE" Sorry Not Much But Please I Need Your Help It is Killing Me Trying To Figure It Out

  • BobM, try don henley - heart of the matter cover

    Regards

  • Think you might be looking for Don HENLEY - The heart of the matter ... but a great very old soul track with similar lyrics you may like is Major Lance's '' You don't love me no more'' TRY IT LOL

  • Hey That's My Dad!

  • Does anybody know which year this record was issued on? Thanks.

  • Early 1966

  • Thanks a lot! :-)

  • cornishdeb This was massive from late 1973 and early 1974 - about a YEAR before the Cleethorpes Winter Gardens opened. (The 'Footsie generation' miss the boat again! Never mind eh?...)

  • What's up Drwhatson.... has your missus left you??? you seem to be a bit negative on a few posts!! does it matter when it came out or where it was played??? enjoy it for gods sake!!!

  • No, I just get sick of reading constant misinformation on here (particularly about Wigan) Folk all over the world read this stuff - why not take a bit of extra trouble to get your facts right? Wigan was open for about 8 years, so just about everything was played EVENTUALLY. That doesn't make them all "Wigan records" does it? (Prophets?, James Bounty?, Jimmy Thomas?, Sandi Sheldon?) Give some respect to what came before you got onto the Northern scene.

  • Point taken... i know what you mean... we seem to have what we call "the footsee generation" saying lots of things..my comment was only abit of fun... but thx for replying.
