Left lane is often called the "fast lane" Thats not the actual purpose of the lane.(you can't speed just because your in the "fast lane" whooosh!) Its for passing, not for traveling. So even though the driver going slow was annoying the cop I can almost guarantee its because he was traveling in the passing lane.

This post is total non-sense. You wouldn't last three minutes driving in the passing (far left) lane on the autobahn. First of all IT IS EXTREMELY ILLEGAL; second, it;s dangerous in the USA, but it's deadly in Germany. If you did what you claim you'd had been in jail or smeared across the hood of a big Benz within minutes. I lived and worked in Munich for over a year. I actually drove the autobahn nearly every weekend. Sorry, but I doubt you've ever been anywhere near Germany.
