Hi Jim, i was thinking of ordering the course. I use my pick and my middle finger a lot...(Sort of like Steve Howe).will I be able to play most of the lessons like that?...thanks...Mike in NY
@mikesoland Hi Mike, That's a style I could never master, but I suspect that Willie Walker played like this, as his single strings runs were just two fast for an alternating thumb and finger stroke. I'm not sure how you'll get on with the Blake stuff, where I use first and middle finger in conjunction with the thumb, but the rest are often just played with on finger.
@acoustictravellersl Thanks Jim...ok i will order a thumb pick this week and try your free tab to see how i do..
those darn thumb picks are so stiff...do they make them in a .60 medium?...or is it best to just get used to the real stiff ones?...or just use flesh?....cus i know a lot of times it just takes practice...i think i might be able to do this...
@mikesoland I use flesh about 80% of the time, the rest a thick thumb pick. Gives that Gary Davis 'boom' I like. If you a more Travis feel and sound like Doc Watson/Tommy Eman, use a thinner thumb pick that flexes a little. I get never play Blake with picks.
Hey fella,ya sound fantabulous!having played Country music and Rock & Roll some some years, you're one of the very few ones make me feel how weak I am in playing the guitar and how MUCH I wish I could play like you.....you are simlpy AMAZING....
