my lab is sick and one of the vets who's looking after her told me it's heartworm and ruled out poisoning. i'm blaming myself for not seeing to this. what kind of mom am i right? i should have known better..

Please treat your dogs for this. My Great Dane is at the vet right now fighting for her life. I wish I had stood up to my husband and told him heartworm prevention IS a must. She started showing signs on Saturday, and now our vet is afraid she'll die. She is coughing up blood, and she is skin and bones. They deteriorate so quickly. Please, prevent this. I wish I had.

Our dog tested positive this week here in Florida. She's now on Prednisone and Doxycycline, with a drastic cut in exercise, and returns to the vet in 4 weeks.

Our dog tested positive today - he received a shot and is staying overnight at the vets and will receive another shot tomorrow. He will go back in a few months for a test to make sure all are gone. We will definitely use the preventive medicine. We were not aware of this problem. A friend mentioned it earlier this week, that's why we took our red heeler in for testing.

this video is 100% correct... I lost my dog last week... I wish a vet had told me of this disease a few years ago... I had no idea what heartworms were last month, no one is having this treatment over here
