The north american culture is based on wasting a great deal of energy. The bigger the organization, the bigger the waste. Probably when George Bush flies across the country or the world he will spend millions of dollars. He will spend more flyng across the country than you will make in your entire lifetime. In stead of turning everything into money to be bought and sold with government taking a big cut, you have to harvest energy from the environment. Very direct no money changing hands.
Let's say you had a internal combustion electric generator that ran on propane or ethanol, all the waste heat could be captured and stored in a heat reservoir and later used for heating warm air for your home. Instead of being allowed to escape it could be stored in a tank of water until it finally escapes through the cracks in your home after heating your home. On a cold windy day you could store all the ice you would need to cool your home. Think local heat and cold reservoirs using water.
It seems like we can never expect those in power to "deball" them selves. We need to control our own energy as much as we can instead of allowing it to be centralized and controlled by the "biggy piggies" We need solar, we need wind, we need effective energy storage. Let's use energy reservoirs. Sub surface insulated water tanks that can store heat or cold, for indoor temperature control. In cold climate they could use more wind. In sunny climate they could use more solar.

There could be different kinds of energy storage banks in ones house or proximity. Battery, or fuel cell. The French are working with pneumatics, and there is heat or cold storage in insulated water tanks for heating and refrigeration. The beauty of heat energy is that it is the most easily usable form of energ for heating your house.
In a 2000 gallon tank you could have stored enough ice to cool several homes for the hot part of the year in Canada. That is 8 tons of ice or cold water that can be used to keep houses cool; and can be replenished every time it is below freezing or colder with heat exchange. In warmer climates water could be cooled or warmed with wind or solar. That is all about storing heat or cold to be used as needed to keep inside environment warm or cool.

Do you know how many people are suffering and died from athma and other diseases because of polluted air, river and ocean in Japan? You just don't know the reality and seriousness of pollution. You have to be aware of how lucky you are being in Canada. You have to be aware of how important the beautiful natures are. Don't take it for granted. You have to protect it. You just have to see the world. You have to put it in a larger scale.
I agree with yah, I don't think Canada is the only nation that takes nature for granted. I wouldn't say we're foreign to international consequences of global warming, afterall, we are seeing our own problems in the North Pole with the rise in global temperatures. I agree with Dr.Suzuki, why should the taxpayer pay the price? I think it's time that the industries take the brunt of things, not every day citizens.

At least, he is talking about it based on what he had been studying, not like you. Do you know how much he had been suffering from being judged by how he looks?
Do you know how hard he had been studying to get out of the traumatic experiences in his childhood? You seem to reject him only because he is an Aisian. Of course, he knows that he can't minimize the solar flare by himself. That's why he is trying to get people be aware of this issue and do something useful against it. I admire him because he is so brave to speak out his opinions which is proven by his study and stand up for the society to improve the earth. .

The only thing global warming activism has done so far is take scientists' attention away from environmental pollution and hazards. China has some of the most polluted food in the word and guess what huge quantities of it is sold to the U.S. and entirely unchecked. Entire rivers are completely polluted wild life is being devastated... Millions of tons of waste is thrown out into nature... and Americans are blindly focusing their attention on the idea that we are responsible for global warming.
CO2 emission sources: Oceans-------59.5% Decaying vegitaion----17.9% Plant and animal respiration--17.9% Human made----4.7% (factories, cars, fireplaces, breathing, etc.) The human input of CO2 into the earth is insignificant compared to natural sources, i.e. 4.7% to 95.3%. Quit worrying about global warming and get some sleep.
