  • That family was WEIRD.

  • What a douche.

  • he went this far to trick the whole nation, if i were him i would have just thrown the fuckin kid in there and let him take a nice lil ride

  • Easily a fake. That balloon can bearly life it's own weight. How can it possibly hold the weight of a small child?

  • this is the dumbest thing ever, that guy is a looser and he knows it. he must have had some daddy issues when he was a kid, well he still is. F this fag I bet he thinks hes some hot shit. Hoax. what a dirt bag.

  • Your point is.......

  • Seriously,

Has anyone look into this family's plans? How would they explain their son's return? Were they ever? Or did they plan on killing him?

A life insurance policy for a small child is cheap cheap cheap.

They may have chicken out on killing their son.

  • Any trurth to the rumors that the sherif will br staring in the next Reno 911 move?

  • that is some seriously HORRIBLE fucking acting......he def wasted money on the acting school where he met his wife.....fucking loser

  • You can clearly tell from this video that there is no kid inside.

I haven't heard anyone else mention this, but if you look when the balloon is hovering near the ground at the beginning, the bottom is actually off the ground. Are you telling me the frame of the balloon is supporting the kids weight before it left the ground?? The bottom of the balloon where the compartment is would be on the ground due to his weight before takeoff. The frame would not support the weight in that position.

  • all it is is some sort of tin foil ballon thats filled with helium

and we all believed the kid could be in it. he doenst even fit in that small cabin at the bottom of hte ballon

    what a bunch a retards

"you guys said... thats this was all for a show"

  • evidence against them

-Science man Heene should have known that ballon couldn't carry a 35lb kid.

-said the balloon was not suppose to go off..he released it

    - the kid was in the fucking attic for hourse while people yelled his name.....scared...maybe....likely...no.

-kid said "we did it for the show"

-vid shows you can her them start screaming on cue...all of a sudden they all realized he was missing???

-fam shows a history of loving attention

    -TV show in the works

  • american men loves fucking japanese woman

  • fucking white man, AND THAT CHINK. CRAZY ASSHOLES

  • This is a hoax and both parents will be charged.

  • have you guys heard their 911 call? the dad clearly said it wasn't suppose to take off but here he is releasing the balloon up up in the sky!

  • Why are you retards talking about politics?

  • STOP ARGUING ABOUT STUPID FREAKING POLITICS AND TALK ABOUT THE STUPID VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeesh! Liberal, conservative, I COULD FREAKING CARE LESS! I'm a liberal but I wanna discuss this video, not read your incessant rants back and forth. Go argue in emails not here. Geeze...

  • Your points lack strength, sense and validity. You "read a lot of psychology books" and "countless articles", yet your specific facts/examples are nil. Your entire response is laughable and on par with a pupil who retired prior to moving on from his secondary education.

But, for fun, please list 2 of your "countless articles by respected, non biased media analysts" that "rate it on par universally with Al Jazeera."

I'm sure an easy task for someone of your academic caliber.

  • Nice try rookie, but those are "opinion" shows, not the news shows that the polls I referenced are based on. When it comes to "opinion" shows, cable news is still dominated by libs, with FOX as the exception. There is nothing wrong with pushing opinions on either side, as long as that is what your show is. The problem is when you have shows that call themselves "news", but push an agenda. It's not really a hard concept to grasp, it just takes an open mind & research.

  • It's ridiculous (not to say stupid) when they say: "get ouf of there now!" the balloon is about 20 meters off the ground. If I thought that my son is really inside that was the last thing I would say, lol

  • I've changed my mind about these guys. The dad had a science type tv show in the works, science projects, and this was one of them. There is a lot of interaction with the kids, maybe he's a good dad. Irresponsible, but fun.

The kid was yelled at for getting in the base. When the balloon got away, as balloons will, he just thought the kid got back in because he couldn't find the kid. The dad panicked.

What kind of family makes a flying saucer for a family project?

  • Are you fucking serious?....sigh.

Maybe that family can get away with it...with people like you out there.

  • There is a lot that does not make sense, and I'm not certain that he really meant to let the balloon go, THIS TIME.

The evidence I have seen says there was a publicity stunt in the works. I have trouble believing he would put the kid at that much risk.

Heene is a different type, not unlike the guy waiting tables who really thinks he's an actor waiting for his break. The world is full of people with unrealistic ideas.

Unlike you, I'm not certain and am wiling to change my mind on this.

  • HE COUNTED DOWN!!!! did you think he was counting down to fake you out?

The kid was never in the balloon.

He has a rap video of his kids cursing up a storm.....putting kids at risk...hmmm.

I cannot say 100% percent also....but it is not looking good for this family

  • He counted down, ok. But did he really mean to launch the balloon? Or let it rise to the end of the teather?

All we really have is accusations, and accusations are sometimes not exactly the way things are.

Heene looks like the master of bad decisions.

I agree, he forever changed his life on this one.

I saw an article this morning on a guy, now 80, who was raised on a balloon at air shows in the 30's. One day the safety line let go and they had to chase him. He was 4 at the time.

  • Let's try to hold off on the judgement of this family. The media feels like they were "taken for a ride" and is now doing a hatchet job on this family. Everything seen is now through the EMF (Elite Media Filter). Let's see what the police come up with and go from there. I hate when the EMF tries to take out the innocent (remember "Joe the Plumber").

  • Referring to the media as Elite tells me you buy the Fox News view, and they are among the worst in this case.

Joe the plumber is an example of someone who wouldn't stand up to a very close look.

Hasn't he proved he's exactly what he criticized?

  • vidguy007 proves to be as ignorant as CNN, MSNBC, etc. You are someone that completely buys into the Elite Media Filter. Here is something called a fact: Every UNBIASED report that looks at Fox vs. CNN, MSNBC, etc, shows that generally FOX covers political figures at a 50% positive, 50% negative rate. Including Bush. Meanwhile, CNN covers Republicans more negative than Democrats, and MSNBC is like CNN on steroids. But, why would a liberal care about facts?

  • Just what is the "Elite Media"? That's what Fox News calls everyone that's not them.

Fox News' chairman is the guy who brought us the Willy Horton ads, Roger Ailes. Not exactly a guy with a fair and balanced approach.

  • Yelling "Liberal" is what Fox "News" viewers are taught to do. Congratulations for being a mindless parrot.

  • Thanks vidguy007 for proving my point, I throw out "facts" (you may need to check a dictionary for that one) and you start with the emotional appeal: "mindless parrot", evil "FOX news", why I waste my time I just do not know. I will get back with you when you learn to debate with "facts". Like I said, it is in the dictionary. Best of luck trying to live a succesful life, ya Loon. :O)

  • Fox News was founded by Roger Ailes, and he is chairman today. He was Bush #1's campaign manager, and he was credited with the Willy Horton ads, or "Let's scare white people with a picture of an ugly black guy."

Those are facts. I don't see anything in your posts except name calling, "Liberal!!!"

  • One more time with "facts". I take it you are backing off of the Joe the Plumber thing because you found out you were wrong. But, to finish your education, for original footage YouTube search:

'Joe the Plumber' Becomes Focus of Debate

You will see where he says, "I'm getting ready to buy a company..."

Next, as far as Willy Horton. Dude, anyone can easily Google him and find out his story. If you are cool with a murderer, rapist, etc, you got some BIG issues.I'm done with you, Sicko.

  • To buy a company you don't need all of the money. Hell, ever hear of a mortgage, Einstein? Wait, I forgot, a rapist sympathizing liberal rents at best, but most likely lives in a week-to-week motel.

  • 50% positive and 50% negative, "Including Bush?" That proves something, and it isn't the point you want to make.

Only Fox News can say anything positive about the Bush presidency.

  • Joe the Plumber was a perfect example. All he did was ask Obama a question. Then the media did their normal trick of saying he said something that he didn't say, and attacking it. Just like they just did to Rush L. And then they dig up that he owes a few hundred in back taxes. Meanwhile, do they even care about all of Obama's cabinet picks with MAJOR tax problems? The hypocrisy is so obvious it is kind of embarrassing.

  • Joe the plumber asked a question that represented himself as someone he wasn't, a business owner making more than $250,000 a year.

He was actually not even a plumber, he was a plumber's helper.

  • I will respond since I sense you are really trying. Joe said that he had the "opportunity" to purchase a company (which was true because his boss offered him the option). He said that that could move him into that bracket, and why should he have to pay a higher percent of taxes because of it. Not much incentive to move ahead. He NEVER claimed anything that you mentioned, but the bias of the media is proven in your message. You bought it! Now, let's hear a response to facts? please try?

  • He has gone on to prove he's less than an intellectual heavy weight.

  • He did say he had the opportunity, but he didn't, did he" He couldn't have (because he didn't have any money) and the company didn't make anywhere near that kind of money.

Facts be damned. You don't seem to have any.

  • didn't they say that the boy released the balloon and that he was scared he'd get in trouble so he hid?....

  • The boy DIDN'T release the balloon, the wife did. Kind of plain in the video.

The guy should have tied up the teather, like all parents learn, tie the balloon to something or it will get away.

  • I have a few problems with this video. For one, the strings look fairly long enough that if he was so freaked his son was in there, he'd grab one to hold it down. Two, it doesn't correlate with their story that the son told them AFTER that Falcon was in there. It's just odd.

  • supposedly he didn't know - was told later by his son - but WE all knew it was a hoax. You never heard him scream, "there goes my son!"

  • This is the biggest hoax I have ever seen.

They are counting down the ballon take off and 1 milla-second later he thinks the boy is in the ballon?

FAKE! And the acting job by the father is truly fake!

Nice idea though! This whole scam worked because they are going to cash in at the bank after all this!

  • Not true...

"We anticipate criminal charges will be filed sometime in the near future," Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden told CNN.

  • The balloon got away, as balloons will. It WAS for publicity of his science project TV show, hence the comment, "It's for the show." The dad didn't explain well. NEVER let your 6 year old be interviewed by the media.

When the balloon got away and they couldn't find the kid, they panicked.

They don't deserve what they are going to get.

  • they knew there was no box and we know that couldn't lift a boy. Send them to jail, mwah-ha-ha!

  • The box is the thing at the bottom of the balloon.

  • that's part of the balloon. If the kid were inside of it he'd die of gas poisoning. Supposedly there was supposed to be an actual BOX down there. Yes, a square box, 4 sides and all. I got my facts straight. Now you can thank me :)

  • Here's a quote:

Authorities have also tested the base part of the balloon, into which Heene said his son may have crawled.

Alderden said that section consisted of a very thin piece of plywood and cardboard sides held together by string and duct tape.

Do a Google search, there are photos of the deflated balloon hanging up on the CNN website showing the rigid cardboard and duct tape "box."

It's not square but round. Boxes come in all shapes.

I can't thank you enough! lol

  • ahem... well i saw the vid of the balloon traken apart. well... the video i saw shows a cgi of the balloon with a box attached with strings and was released first. I can say that was true but I believe it was Mr Heene's jump to a quick explanation because if the kid had climbed in it would have deflated the balloon. regardless, there is a video of what you said so I'll eat half of my words, okay?

  • Crazy people. poor kids..I can't believe these parents have not been investigated by child protective services before now based on their lifestyle and the fact that they have put these kids in harms way during storm chases. If what they say about them is true, they need to get some help to protect the kids. As far as this flying saucer BS, there is no way the kid was in the craft nor would it have been able to leave the ground with him aboard. attention grabbing PSYCHOS!

  • Why did falcon hide in the attic if it was the father who let the balloon go?

  • I ask the same question!

  • To the Sherriff: Inspect the balloon, there's no way that the boy could have been inside. There is no hatch, no way to enter it??? You see the bottom from all angles, where is the door? or hatch?? There's isn't one. Richard yelled at his kid that day.....to go hide in the attic. He should have picked one of the older kids, they might have got the stroy righht for the cameras. I feel sorry for Falcon he is scared shitless, that's why he's throwing up. These people are fame whores & bad actors.

  • i have a comment to make about this. if they really wanted to know if they boy was in the ballon, all they had to do was take the weight and balance data from the balloon, the size in cubic feet of the balloon, the weight of the boy, and the specific gravity and the weight of helium. and putting that all together into an equation would have told them if the boy was in the balloon, based on its flight patters. im a fricken 19year old A&P mechanic and im the only one that could figure this out??

  • Good comment. However, even if the world's foremost expert had claimed that it would be impossible for someone, based on your specifications, to be in the balloon, the police would still have had to proceed as if there were someone in there. If they didn't, and God forbid the experts were wrong, and the kid died, then there would be a lawsuit. It is better to chase the balloon than to open yourself up to legal challenges. Experts are sometimes wrong. You are not the only one with that theory.

  • i dont get it. why do all of a sudden think he is in there????

  • 1:08 "pow pow pow!" -fake machinegun

  • Signs that they are enourmouse douche-bags:

    1. They were on wife swap

    2. They make weather balloons

    3. They send iReports to CNN

    4. They named their kid "falcon"

  • ...PUNCH!

  • that balloon couldnt even lift a bean

  • what the hell is his crazy mail order asian skank of a wife screaming lol

  • Where was the box attached to the balloon that his son was supposedly thought to be in? I agree with the others about the Heene family owing tax payers and the owners of the wheat crops money.

  • And I just saw an interview in which Mr. Heene claims that in the video his son can be seen crawling into the balloon ... where? These parents are whack jobs; 15 mins officially up. I hope CPS checks out to make sure those kids are being properly cared for.

  • I hate these people. The state of Colorado needs to sue them back to the stone age for their little publicity stunt.

  • This is so fake

  • The family that owns the wheat field where emergency crews tried to rescue the little boy, says that the many vehicles rushing across their field wound up ruining their crop -- all of this due to a hoax. Apparently the field can produce a crop only once every two years.

Richard Heene's hoax has not only cost Colorado tax payers thousands of dollars, it has cost Doug and Joanna Abbott a significant portion of their livelihood.

Richard Heene and his wife should made to pay for this -- all of it.

  • that sucks

  • I think Heene might get his wish for a TV show: Lockup.

  • ...and what about the interview on Larry King?

Dad: Why didn't you come out?

Falcon: "Um, you said, we did this for the show"

Dad: So, you didn't come out

He was quickly changing the subjest.

Also, apperantly the Heene's pitched a reality TV show idea to ABC the following day, but they denied it.

  • If it is a hoax, it's a terrible thing to do. Not only monitarily...but emotionally. Imagine what those resscue workers were going through ...thinking there was a child in the balloon puts it on a whole other level...and the fact that the entire country was praying when that balloon came down. Maybe the ballon accidentaly got away and dad thought he'd get in trouble for setting it loose. Maybe dad thought he wouldn't be in trouble if it turned into a "thank God my kid's ok" story.

  • Why didn't the family show more of the footage they had, instead of repeating the footage three times!!!

  • Hoax all the way, even the kid admits it. Plus now, someone is selling proof that it was a planned fake for a tv show.

  • the funniest thing ive almost ever seen

  • A very kooky family.

  • zOMFGa

the baby is not inside the balloon! -_-

  • what a scam, the chinese woman sucks at pretending to be scared

  • that thing couldn't lift a house cat. you can clearly see him push it into the air. where's the basket the kid was supposed to be in? if the thing is so valuable and capable of such great lift, why do you put a child in charge of the teather?

  • I agree--does not look like much lift.

  • The yelling and cursing is apparently because whichever child was supposed to be tending the tether line was not. Perhaps the youngest? And that is why he ran and hid in the box in the attic?

  • If this video was taken the same day as the incident with the child, then I hope the state sends the bill for fuel and overtime to the family. Especially since the young boy is stated to have said "We did this for the show." Sorry, ultimate FAIL on the part of the entire family. And if this is the video from the day, and the family lied to the police, then I hope children's services gets involved. No child should be involved with a manipulating, attention seeking family.

  • WTF are they yelling about in the end...

  • why do people insist on giving these odd, money hungry , attention seeking nut jobs the attention they want? this man is a waste of breath and they cost my state money, I hope they charge their stupid asses

  • Looking at the video how slowly the ballon gains altitude EMPTY with NO PAYLOAD, Mr Heene NO DOUBT had to know that there is NO WAY, even the slightest chance that the ballon is capable to lift his son weighing maybe 40-50 lbs.

I bet the baloon would have troubble lifting off with 10 lbs payload...

Hope they have to pay in full for the "rescue operation".

    Brg. from Norway

    SAP

  • interview + badly acted video = pwnd

(well at least they'll get their 15 minutes)

    poor kids

  • They where also on wife swap, they are fame hungry.

  • I bet they killed their son and tried to make it as if he got in there. I see nothing on the video, but lameass lying parents.

  • the kid is alive, dumb ass

  • o guri deu um balão em todo mundo....hahahaha

  • If you look hard enough, the moment the dad is saying "Oh my god" he is pushing the balloon up.

  • HOAX

  • that thing could barely lift itself off the ground let alone a small child.

  • so fake...

  • I LOVE all the smart comments on here such as "why was Falcon not watching with the rest of the family" and "how could they have thought he was in there". As smart as these people are, they are stupid to think we would buy the OBVIOUS bullshit. Sad really.

  • how could they have thought the kid was inside? It makes no sense.

  • Publicity stunt to obtain a reality show!

  • Additionally the lines that were supposed to be tied down don't even appear to be long enough to allow the balloon to rise above the trees. It's like flying a kite with a 10 ft string??

  • off and had to be in sight of atleast one of the other 4 people. Looking at the video the yard doesn't look that big, atleast not big enough not to see Falcon run off scared.

  • rjsmith358 Does it make sense to launch this balloon without Falcon present to watch. You hear one of the sons in the video and see the father and wife. So 3/5 of the family was there. Someone was filming (probably the oldest child) that makes 4/5 of the family present for the big launch yet No One called for Falcon to watch and witness. According to the family Falcon hide after the balloon took off because he thought it was his fault... Which means he did witness the balloon taking (continued)

  • The Sheriff of Larimer better give this kook,Richard Heene, a once-over in another round of questioning. Anybody who watches this video, who has ever held a balloon or has an IQ over 60, will understand that based on the MOMENTUM change of the balloon in the light breeze, it is impossible for a heavy mass to be contained in cargo area. Furthermore, there is clearly no deformation of the thin mylar encasing the cargo area. This is most certainly should result in the charge of inciting panic.

  • I guess overall this is just a glaring example of me being a neutral Canadian. Weighing facts and questioning reasons rather than jumping to a baseless opinion. No disrespect to anybody, any creed, country, or person.

  • Let that sink in and think about that. 6 year old boy vs seasoned journalist ( I am being generous with the term Wolf, don't get cocky) for one of the largest media outlets in the world beaming the broadcast to millions around the world... I do realize that the kid was not being grilled but that is irrelevant. The amount of media coverage this is getting gives you an idea of what this kid was up against. Which brings me right back to questioning the dad wanting publicity angle. I don't know.

  • maybe the kid thought he was asking why did you do this interview or why didn't you answer the question (kid thinking why didn't you answer the interviewer's (Wolf Blitzer) question?) Context could possibly be an issue. I think the larger possibility is that it is a hoax but I don't think I can believe that 100% yet. We could ask the question "How media savvy (that's s a v v y, not s a w y...lol) is the kid or even how would your 6 year old handle an interview on CNN with Wolf Blitzer?"

  • I don't know. I think the easy answer is that it is a hoax and a publicity stunt. It very much looks that way. However I do have a little wonder if maybe it was true that the father (being a psycho with an obvious temper, acting or not, this suspicion is not based on this video only) freaked out on the kid and he ran and hid out. It is possible that the kid misinterpreted the question as in "why did you do it, why didn't you answer?" (continued)

  • If the family does these experiments, and was "launching" their invention does it make sense to have your wife there, someone filming, atleast 1 son whos voice you hear yet not Falcon? This was a publicity stunt.

  • It's important to note that these people have a theater background. That being said, they need to get a refund from whatever acting school they went to. If I wanted bad acting, I'd go see a George Lucas movie.

  • What a scam!

  • I think the boy really did hide in the attic... That Dad was CRAZY pissed about the balloon taking off. I think he was just hiding from his jackass dad.

  • Are you fucking retarded?

The family has lied MULTIPLE times now. The father is a pyschopath who wanted publicity for his "inventions".

  • Yea, and if that puking was induced by the parents we are talking serious neglect here. Thats all speculation at this point tho, innocent until proven guilty in the court of law! REMEMBER that before you go all lynchmob people. But if they turn out to be guilty of this stupid shit, like it seems - fuck them they are not worthy parents.

  • I..I don't even understand how they think that this was believable.

  • if you look closely, you will see a BABY NOT ON BOARD sign

  • That balloon doesn't look like it could lift a cat. I'm surprised it doesn't say "Congratulations, it's a boy!" on it.

  • The father should be in big trouble any way you look at this.

  • I watch this family on Wife Swap, he father acted like a psycho!

  • I'd hate to see their legal bill defending this one.

  • I agree. I think these people are in trouble lol

  • This sure looks like the family pulled a hoax
