Ronnie Lane, my #1 all time favorite on a par with only Keith Richards. Ronnie got so fugged by the record companies, yeeowch. Sadly, I was working for the police and on methadone when they played. Still love anything Ronnie wrote or the Majik Midjits did together. God Bless 'em and I'll see them on the other side of the lawn. Peace.
What a rendition of this oldie. If you look up the lyrics on Chordie etc., you'll see that this song actually was a bit risque for its time.(20-30s?) With that in mind - I have a friend who spent years playing clubs before taking some slow down time with his family. He got asked to do a gig in a nursing home. Yeah, who'd of thought. But he ended up enjoying doing oldies to the oldies and this was among the most requested. Risque music to the elderly. Grandma may have had a good time in her day!
Where was I when Jimmy Page was playing this time?... I'm so sorry for this I had only heard on Led Zeppelin and Jimmy around the 80s. I been born years later of this performance furthermore, I just started loving hard Rock when I was a teenager... how much time wasted !!!
I saw this tour back when it came to Dallas. It was called the British Invasion if I remember correctly. Seems just like the other day, time is just temporary.
You guys are not serious? I just got home after a guitar lesson where my teacher told me about how ahead of his time Jimmy was, how he did not just abuse pentatonic licks but was aware of what chords he actually played over... He's obviously a great player, otherwise we would not even be talking about him!
@66tmyers , I agree with you, Leon made the best performance of this song, but in this concert the voice (tired) and the presence of Ronnie Lane, was a really emottionly moment to remember, Iwas not there, but I saw the video. Sorry for my bad english!!!
@MrMarquee It's Ry Cooder. Not Ray Cooder. And Ray Cooper is a percussionist probably best known for working with Elton John. Plenty of vids here on youtube with Elton and Cooper.
Jeff Beck goes places on the guitar the Jimmy Page couldn't even think about going, but when you look at who has create the most classic guitar music that will stand the test of time, I think it is Jimmy Page. He recorded some of the most brilliant rock guitar pieces ever written, whether he can still play them now or not is another issue.
@deaddoc Page is a genius, he's had some ideas the others would have never even though of. However, he's a living paradox: he's the one who composes some wonders but can't play them. He's one of the dirties and more inaccurate guitar players ever and now that he's old, he hasn't improved: he is still unable to play a scale without missing a note or being inaccurate. He's never been humble. He's been living as a star because of the fame he got when he was very young, but...
@deaddoc ...instead of improving through the years, he said: "I'm Jimmy Page, people love me, I can play like a child and nobody will have the guts to tell me that" and he was right, he's screwed everybody up, because that is what happened. He started being like about in the tour supporting the fourth album of the Zep. It's a pity because he's a half guitarist, great genius inventor, but awful player. I wish he were able to play well all goes on in his mind: it'd be magic.

This is the best rendition of Goodnite Irene I have ever heard. I really liked the bass vocal, too.

Jimi Page is a little stone compared to Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. I can't understand why Page has been overestimated so much for all these years.

@PietroRumenta You obviously haven't heard his acoustic work, nor all of his electric work.
