  • What if you double the winds on the toroid?

  • Bifilar wound means that both windings have the same number of turns. If the primary winding has such a high voltage at 12V supply, then the feedback winding has the same voltage since it's the same number of turns. This is Really Bad. The feedback winding should be 10 or 12 turns, about 1/4 the number of turns when the supply is 12V. This is to prevent the high negative V on the feedback winding from damaging the emitter to base junction of the transistor.

  • mine makes 280-300v with 2 batteries ,i used an 2n2222A transistor and for the coil i used an transformer :D check out my channel :)

  • what transistor have you used?

  • What is the circuit? looks like you have a 12 volt fluorescent lamp..

  • That new light is making a high pitched sound??

  • I managed to power a 24V LED lamp with an almost empty button cell... these things are anazing.

I also found out that if you charge a capacitor (through a diode) with it and put the LED there, it is much much brighter. But you probably know that ;-)

  • @sciencoking well because you filter the current...

  • what kind of transistor are you using?

  • hi this is ajimaru from ph. i just want to ask what no. of the power transistor and the resisto^_^ and is it the same diagram as a simple joule thief?

  • i have to make that for my coilgun.

  • Bravo, bon travail.

  • excellent JT vid i've seen alot of them and yours showed me what I needed to know thankkyou for that video!

  • 1/10th of a volt, but 50 amps.

    Best way to increase voltage?

    Thanks

  • why don't you hook it op like this:

the light bulb in paralel with the capacitor, and that in paralel with the joul thief?

    or won't this work?

  • what type of transistor did you use, all of the ones that I tried worked fine on 6 volts but died instantly on 15 volts?

  • The small audio transistors are doing the oscillation to fast switch coils or large power transistors. Transistors have a input maximum. Just google for the datasheet, specs, and use a resistor, choke, or rheostat to bring it into range.

  • So does a larger coil or more turns on a coil increase the efficiency or power output from a 1.5 volt cell, or does it just allow for higher input voltage?

  • Yep: v=rt3DMyanfWc

  • I made one of these a year ago, and the sound coming from the coil fascinated me the most. What median do electromagnetic wave travel through? All waves travel through a median, but I have found no one who claims to know for sure about electromagnetic waves.

  • Maybe the sound is magnetically induced vibrations in the toroid?

  • The medium is Space/Time. Vacuum, you name it!

    Rob

  • what is the coil for?

  • 200V...

Don't you afraid of shock ??

  • Its high frequency and low current, you should still be careful though.

  • @kubikop wheres the circiut shcematic to biuld this joule theif

  • @bbafe have you got the circuit schematic for the transistor and neon wiring and the details of the transistor to

  • Nice Job!! I was wondering about bigger and more coils :)

  • Thanks

  • that is cool

  • Cheers!

  • thank and u can make a mini power plant lol

  • lol phone cam

  • sorry, have you got a spare camera I can borrow? ;-P

  • that let me post you viedo /v good are or were ever a bedini groop v u be in teh addvansed groop i look at all ur pulse motors i think i read that u could never get a full charge i see y ] but u be pull to the ss guy-gals u should see an incrace of ur viedo hits

  • hi i have duped about1/2 of your work and it has leed to many inprovements in my ssg mods plea se rat some of my vids

you are cup of coffey to me insperational

  • Well Done!

Please post a video reply to this video if you think it will help people...

    Paul.

  • what gauge of wire did you use for the coil, what transistor did you use and what resistor are you using? I want to make one of these. can you tell me please?

  • Its a BD243C Transistor and 0.5mm wire I think Its all in the more info bit at the top.

  • Thanks for posting Kubikop.

Apologies if i'm being a bit thick here, but how is this different from an inverter hooked to a car battery?

  • inverter produces a fixed voltage, fixed frequency sinusoid for powering ac equipment. this circuit produces hv spikes by interupting current thru an inductor, an using a coupled coil to switch the system at its overall resonance.

in terms or circuit design, theu are quite dissimilar

  • Well put, and they are more efficient.....

    Paul.

  • if you want to fracture water real easy

then i know you lill take to new hights do this i get old speaker bigger better rip out so you only have case and magnet

no wiers lay flat on face up [make sure nothing in cone hole fill as much a possable water hook 5 amp battey charger gd to case and and larg nail to center of magnet

  • All you need to do is put power through water, If you match the resonance with the container, which should resonate at a multiple or at resonance of the input frequency...

    Just my too cents...

  • u are making stun guns can we make a stun gu charge itself

  • I want to make a coil gun with it but the principles of raising and storing the energy are the same....

    Paul

  • great

  • Thanks

  • did the transzister cause the resinence i would love a ancer

  • whats it made of?

  • A material that is easily magnetizable....

  • Nice work, kubikop.

    44-50 turns, you say.

Thanks for the scope shots too. I don't own one of those tools and this is valuable information.

    thanks - jeanna

  • oo wow now thats some clean spikes! nice !

  • Yeah, I was very pleased with the consistency of the Coil windings.

    Cheers!

  • watch?v=CHvuty37bTE

sorry if this is an old video for some of you, but please tell me if this is not a really giant joule thief?

  • P.S. at the top of this page is a link to download the patent designs. please check them out. they are bound to give you some interesting ideas.

magneticpowerinc (dot) com (slash) patent (dot) html

  • Does Look SImilar and I have just light a Fluorescent Tube in the next video with one!

  • Paul--- Great!! That will probably drive an ignition coil that will light a CFL. Good job. Bigger is better. Good scope shots. I still have not figured out how to read mine very well.

  • Thats what I was thinking I have a coil and have dismantled a CFL ready as you may have saw in the video at the back.

Do you just place the CFL wires all in the out of the coil?

Next scope shot I do Ill explain why Im doing it, but Im still learning how to use it easier....

  • It works without the Ignition coil!!

  • great stuff Kubikop.... what gauge wire did u use??

  • Cheers..

0.5mm twisted pairs, its all in the info ant the top.

    Paul.

  • It works too with an incandescent light bulb?

  • I think it will on 240v Bulbs but pulsed so it works at about 90% more efficient.

  • Hey that sound the toroid produces is just like the one pirate picked up in his radio while used his joule thief.

Btw, have you tried to use a cap as the source of voltage?

    Great videos!

  • I have on the smaller version, see previous video.

I will need to upgrade the transistor to test it at 240v.

    Cheers.

  • Nice very nice, curious as to what the voltage draw on this is...

  • Thanks

It will be low (was it the current draw you were after?)

  • That seems to be a very efficient inverter. I bet that coil is cold to the touch :)

12 volts, to 2-300+ volts is incredible, very impressive work!

  • Thanks, the 1.5v battery produces 200v also just at a lower current.

  • nice man :D but don't make the next Chernobyl :P

  • LOL, Ill keep it to exploding capacitors.......

  • that's good man... :) im guessing you have been working with electronics for quite some time?
