Dr. Drew made a statement concerning the reality of insurance premiums being invested in bonds by insurance companies.
This is fact. I studied real estate finance, I was surprised to learn real estate investors (loans) are mainly financed by bonds who's moneys originated from insurance premiums.
The question must be asked, how is the current real estate crisis and health insurance crisis related?
That would be a great topic for any investigatve journalists to delve into!
Dr. Drew hit all the salient points. As a Native American living in the UK I can say if the politicians back how want a prime example of how NOT to nationalise healthcare - just study the British National Health Service. And private insurance is the same the world over - you pay an arm and a leg for something you think you can count on only to be told that No, you cant actually use it 995 of the time. And the people who need to be consulted never air. Great call and well done to you!
On the other hand, my grandfather with cancer living in Scotland has been getting far more attention than any of my family could have gotten him had he been living in the States, and honestly probably would have been dead right now had he still been living in Illinois.
The system isn't perfect and unfortunately swings both ways.
Your grandfather has a distinct advantage living in Scotland; the NHS is Scotland is organised and run in a radically different way to that of England and Wales. For a start the Scots spend more per patient, offer more services and there is no postcode lottery in terms of access to treatment. As the London Times observed in October 2007 - Get sick in Scotland...

Thomas Sowell is a nationally known economist who makes some clear points on the issue of nationalized healthcare. Check him out on Youtube.
