UK Dubstep is way different, and like any music from the 90's, it's just not as popular anymore. @MCstanglProductions Yes and no, early dubstep was an experiment with grime/garage/dnb. Although since Dubstep only really started within the last decade, you can't really say how it was intended to sound. Genres evolve, music changes. Dubstep is mainly known for its heavy, filthy bass drops now.

But yes, early dubstep like Benga/Burial can't be triumphed because in its own way they're way more complex than the filthiest bassline.

Real dubstep comes from uk grime/garage and drum&bass not hiphop.

Its actually that westcoast/"clubbanger" hiphop influence that for me is destroying dubstep.

Today dubstep is just mindless subs on a halfstep 808 drumloop...

Its about the frequency in which the bass creates space along with a nasty 2-step beat and crushing snare.
