Great backbeat, key changes, lyrics, the IT factor... Some new folks could take a deep lesson with this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GREAT SONG, GREAT BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you guys like the Crowes you have got to check out the supergroup Humble Pie from the 70's. This group included Stevie " THE VOICE" Marriott who was a huge influence on Chris Robinson in his youth. Happy listening everybody.
@karlforston that is a really good comparison i still like to listen to rockin the fillmore now and then for those good nasty long jams they did. topped off by I dont need no Docter....... wow good stuff..............
@karlforston Thanks for acknowledging that. I had no idea, but always thought his style reminded me of someone. I'm a huge Frampton fan also. Sad day when Stevie died. Cheers.
i had this video on when a friend was over and she was like "what the fuck is that a death metal singer singin a black crowes song?" haha, i guess the makeup used to kinda throw me off in a way but it doesnt really look as creepy or ugly as it does mysterious.... almost kinda sexy lol but then again it IS Chris he still looks good even when he looks like shit
Great band & great vid. I love the contrast between Chris looking like a vampire and performing soulful, roots rock. But in my opinion, they're strictly a studio band. I saw them perform a handful of times and I was always disappointed with their live shows. However, the new singe "I Ain't Hiding" is amazing and it's done live so maybe I just didn't catch good shows. It's good to know that they're still around and rocking hard.
Yo Capey-capeface! Have you ever been to a rock festival? The Black Crowes happen to do a lot of those rock festival things and that's how I came across their dismal live performances. I PAID to see a bunch of bands Capeman and when compared to the other artists sharing the bill with them, the BC's performances were uninspired, too long and drawn out and boring. *yawn & stretch* Good night you funny little Canadian you.
Totally agree with that. What i like about the Black Crows sound is that although it´s blues-rock it doesn´t really sound like blues-rock, it sounds modern and fresh and actually CLEAN. At first I thought it was due to their disciplined mod drummer but also it´s due to the producers. Rick Rubin knew what he was doing when he signed the band to Def Jam as the only white act.
theface79. The great sound comes mainly from Rich Robinson. He is the man behind their sound, especially the guitar riffs. They have used so many different producers it can't be only the producers. I read and article about Rich being a fanatic on sound. And that is one of the reasons the brothers used to fight. Rich wouldn't let something out until it was just right. One of the greatest rock and roll bands. They get my blood pumping.
Cant wait for 01/09/09,two new albums,i just hope they can sustain the quality that they always have done over the years because hand on heart they are one of the few bands that i can say have not made a poor record.
Nope, I am pretty sure it's him...why don't you think it's him? I'm not sure any other member of the band could put out as much soul as that man. Also, he's always been a little eccentric, which might explain the makeup.
song is top class.......video is muck....all they had to do was camp out in arizona for 24 hours...get some ad director to film it and throw in a couple of mescalinos and daisy dukes and hey presto- another million sales of the album...
This song was on "Amorica". The cover first showed a chicks' nether regions and was censored then re-issued! The innner record had an opium poppy with a hook on it which came from a Russian anti-drug ad... The 'boys were highly strung out at this time, altho creativity was HIGH! lol..
I got the one with the uncensored cover at a Record Exchange. I did not however get the poppy. It was a woman's American flag thong with her pubes popping out of the top. No skin or anything like that.
I love these guys, I love this song, I HATE this video. Chris Robinson as a goth vampire? No. Perfect example of media screwing with somebody's image.
In my humble opinion the best track on Amorica.Kicking tune .They did not form in the 70s first album was '89 (not sure if that comment was serious). This band never let me down, fundamentally the dogs bollocks .Every album is a killer.

No they didn't it's and it's really obvious if they started in the 70's they must have formed while all of the members were around the age between 11-14 year old so no they started at the 70's. The Black Crowes released their first album at 90 which was one year after they were formed. The album was called Shake Your Money Maker and sold around 10 million records.
