Even if if they had stuck to this concept, Masked Rider wouldn't have been much of a success. Half sci-fi action, half sitcom just doesn't work. Sure, Power Rangers managed to be a good mix of action and comedy. But pushing these two elements up only widens the gap between them.

And the story here is still a ripoff of Superman. -.-°

We have to blame Fox for making Saban change a few thing in masked Rider as seen the original pilot, you will see that there is no febus in the pilot meaning the show was going to be different then the show we have now, This show was made to please the censors.

FIrst and formost Dex was less annoying in MMPR than he was in Masked Rider, secondly I wish they kept with the plot they left off at in the MMPR crossover that way we mighta seen another crossover in a later date... but NOPE... never got it.

This clip changes everything we know about Masked Rider. It wasn't Saban's fault; it was Fox's.

This also makes me suspicious that the filmed Masked Rider, not once, but twice. Because when you watch MR, everything looks rushed and the people looked out of breath. Also, there was footage in this clip that was later re-filmed or used for episode 21 at 1:00 and 1:43.

@PRPHD Well that's Kamen Rider J in the title screen. They used footage from the J movie in Masked Rider. My theory is that J and ZO where originally supposed function the same way as Super Gold and Super Blue.

@Blitzmidfielder Masked Rider used footage in a few episodes from both ZO and J due to their being more recent and of a higher budget. They just cut around close-ups of the Rider himself.

also,don't forget the fact that saban were notorious for quickly running out of japanese stock footage for each tokusatsu they adapt,so in order to save time and money from filming new expensive american footage,they had to resort to using stock footage from the 2 Kamen rider movies.
