  • lol!

  • Lemmy gets sensitive- I totally love his vocal on this. I can't remember if he sang lead on any of their other stuff but this is definitely him!

  • @mndandy yeah it has to be.

  • @mndandy

What makes you say that it's definitely Lemmy? I've been listening to Lemmy's voice for more than 20 years (Motorhead all that time and Hawkwind also in more recent years), and I don't hear any resemblance here to his voice in regard to timbre or ability.

  • @GWC1975 Have you heard the Sam Gopal "Escalator" LP from '69? Some fairly mellow moments on there (I think there's a period video lurking around on YT). This is 1966, long before years of smokin', drinkin' and general good times went to work on his larynx. Harry Feeney was the vocalist on all the other Vickers stuff and this isn't him. Traces of latter day Lemmy are detectable on the the strained high notes "....I'm calling....", etc. Just a different style. The beat group era. Gotta love it!

  • @mndandy

All right; I'll take a listen. Thanks for the info!

  • @GWC1975 Look up the Sam Gopal "Sky Is Burning" video and you'll see/hear Lemmy getting in touch with his more sensitive side. The missing link between the Vickers and Hawkwind (not forgetting Opal Butterfly in between!)
