First let me say that I have been an Elvis fan since 1956. When he first appreared on the Jimmy Dorsey Stage show. I was 12 years old. And am from Canada. I just got back from a trip....did visit Graceland. What can I say? It was all so poignant....the last car he drove to Graceland....The last songs he played on the piano in the jungle room. And to actually see the clothes he wore....the black leather suit...There will never be a talent like his...Elvis was the whole package.

What he says about the mouth to mouth thing is so true... My mother died from a massive heart attack, and her mouth was also shut really tight. It was nearly impossible to give her mouth to mouth. I tried, and eventually I could get some air in, but it would come straight back out.. Mum's lip just flapped with the air expelling. Was awful, especially as I was only 16. Joe, you are a good man! A true friend only does such hard work for another! Elvis was true to his friends and it's so sad he isn't here anymore. I was 6 when he died and I don't have any memory of it happening. I was too little I guess. If Elvis hadn't done all those drugs he'd be with us today. Drugs have taken so many lives. I am from Knoxville, TN which is East TN.

Why didn't Elvis have a camera in the toilet? He had security cameras all over the house, but not there? Also, he could have had some kind of buzzer thing on the wall that would have alerted people that he was in trouble. If he had almost died numerous times before and Linda saved him, didn't Ginger know that and watch out for him? I now know why Ginger never gave interviews.

@swobet Ginger Alden didn't care about Elvis. She doesn't give interviews unless she receives payment. She has sold the story of Elvis' death to tabloids. Much worse, when she awoke that terrible afternoon she knocked on the bathroom door, received no response, assumed Elvis fell asleep on the toilet, and then went to put her make-up on before investigating further. After some time passed, she again called out for Elvis and only then opened the bathroom door. Linda Thompson would have saved him.

I realize how heartbroken & shocked all the folks at Graceland that day were, but Joe clearly said rigor mortis had set in when he touched him. You cannot revive someone in that state, it is too late. Even the doctor tried to revive him? Doesn't make sense.

Elvis's face was swollen and purplish, the tongue was discolored and sticking out of his mouth, the eyeballs were blood red. The King was strangled to death while on the toilet by those around him who knew he had bowels trouble! All I can say is The King had some really good friends dog!

First let me say that I have been an Elvis fan since 1956. When he first appreared on the Jimmy Dorsey Stage show. I was 12 years old. And am from Canada. I just got back from a trip....did visit Graceland. What can I say? It was all so poignant....the last car he drove to Graceland....The last songs he played on the piano in the jungle room. And to actually see the clothes he wore....the black leather suit...There will never be a talent like his...Elvis was the whole package.

Elvis death hit people so hard, even non-Elvis fans felt bad and almost refused to believe it. Because Elvis was such a big part of LIFE, and meant so much to such an incredible amount of people. I remember his death as totally devastating, and it was like being punched in the head with a sledgehammer when we realised it was true. I can never imagine how it was for those who knew him on a personal level. R.I.P., my friend.

You could tell it was hard for Joe to talk about it. To him and countless millions ELVIS wasn't just a megastar, he was and is family. That's what fans of other stars don't get. They worship their idols and don't think about them any other way. Their attitude is, My idol is bigger than your idol. That's true of Beatle and Michael Jackson fans. I say this to them. ELVIS is family. Family is worth more than all of your idols put together.

I'm no fan, and never will be, but I remember that day well. I was at a summer camp, in the infirmery, sick. Camp was in a remote area, no TV, radios were discouraged if not forbidden. A pal of mine had a radio, and when he heard, he ran through the camp, past the infirmery, and told the news in the best Paul Revere tradition. Nobody could quite believe it, though it should have come as a shock to nobody. Drugs kill! The wages of sin is death!

I wasn't born when Elvis died so I'm familar w/him through Priscilla & Lisa. I grew up watching Priscilla on Dallas & b/c a fan of Lisa when she was on Primetime w/MJ. It strikes me how Lisa would've experienced what her mother did if she'd stayed married to MJ & they had kids. She would've had the experience as a kid w/Elvis death & then been a mom to her & MJs kids & experienced virtually the same thing over again from a her mom's perspective. Having to maybe help her kids through Mjs death.

What he says about the mouth to mouth thing is so true... My mother died from a massive heart attack, and her mouth was also shut really tight. It was nearly impossible to give her mouth to mouth. I tried, and eventually I could get some air in, but it would come straight back out.. Mum's lip just flapped with the air expelling. Was awful, especially as I was only 16. I wish I could have saved my Mum, but I couldn't . It's been 20 years now and it seems like yesterday.
