This album, Wish You Were Here, Dark Side, Meddle and the short but underrated "Obscured By Clouds" cemented my belief that Pink Floyd were not just another generic Rock band, they got together on a string of albums that worked just right and would stand the test of time.
@jkostop1974 I remember my older brother had this on cassette and played it in his Pioneer Super Tuner car stereo, I love it from the start, still one of the best from the floyd boys...1977!!!!
@jkostop1974 Certainly would not need not argue about this album and where it stands from the Floyd followers and all this band has done before the break-up,The wall is triumphant and its cidley tunes so heartfelt and explosive at times.I wont argue with anyone about how they grade the animals album,but certainly every album has class in itself and there ways of orchestrating and bluesing the rock.This band regardless of infighting always managed to put fans first as all albums are number 1
@jkostop1974 You are right on that, it's perfect, each one of this album's songs is perfect, I think they recognize TDSOTM lot more, but this album is better.

Why is the term "Pigs" used for Government officials. Shouldn't they be considered "Shepherds"?. Shepherds use "Dogs" to keep "Sheep" in order. Wouldn't that make more sense. Can someone explain why the term Pigs was used.
@MarioMancinelli82 Not positive. but it has been going on for many years. From what i understand, George Orwell's "Animal Farm" first used this type of system. You can see examples or adaptations to the story throughout a lot of music. watch the music video to 2+2=5 by Radiohead.

The sheep were the stupidest in the book, and would pretty much do whatever they're told. This album is loosely based on the book itself, but does have some variations in the whole concept and story.

Pink Floyd still remains one of my 4 greatest favourite bands, alongside Black Sabbath, Opeth and Porcupine Tree. I paid 17 euros for this album, but it's priceless
when i put this album on years ago, you had to turn the volume up all the way to get the full effect of this amazing song.....much to the ire of the neighbors who obviously did not appreciate good music at all hours of the night.

I bought this album in '77 as an 11 yr old and love Gilmour's playing at the end of this song as much today as I did back then--one of the most underrated guitars bits in all of rock music....I had read in a couple of places that Gilmour and Waters had gotten a bit bored during the recording of 'Animals' so to shake things up, Waters played guitar in some segments and Gilmour played bass...Too bad these guys couldn't work out there differences.
And i newer heard 1 song or anything, but i admit i know him cose i so him on Opra. But, its boring on every video which has good music people have somethin to tell obout the boy. ok. that is it, and im sory but ...............:)

for pink floyd stile music look for bands with the hipgnosis label. its a Co. that does cover are for bands most of witch have some connection to pink floyd or alan parsons and most all are like minded and concept albums.

@BaileysMariner I`ll give you two: Learning to fly and On the turning away. OK, I went too far, but Waters arrogance was just too much for the band to bear. I don`t doubt his lyrical talent, but he could use some attitude adjustment. BTW name me one good song Roger made after PF that was a great hit.
