Great animation job done at 3:30 to 3:56. Think about, gas effects done with 24 drawings per second and the old lady is animated with mostly every frame, sometimes only every second frame is changed. So; all in all we have about 26 seconds times 24 drawings, makes about: 624 drawings in one shot (if you except the short cut with the princess and the cobbler and if I count wright)... imagine!

I love how much of this movie has "Tom and Jerry" type humor. Or Wile. E. Coyote. The thief doesn't have to talk. His actions and his character speak for him. I thought originally that the remake was good, but now that I've seen this version, I prefer it. But if I was little, I wouldn't have liked it very much. This is for a more... erm, intellectual audience? I think "intellectual is the word I'm going for. Or am I thinking of "open minded"?

@MetalVannan The Thief and the Cobbler didn't take inspiration from Aladdin, as it shut down well before Aladdin was released. Aladdin did take inspiration from The Thief and the Cobbler. Nostalgia Critic was referring to the Miramax edit, AKA Arabian Knight, when he pointed out Aladdin references in the film. Only the Miramax edit's voice track, which makes FUN of the original Thief film, contains Aladdin references.

i hope every1 knows the witch is getting high from the sparkly fumes. its sulfuric gas that comes from mountain cracks. these spots were where oracles were placed in ancient times. the priests wld get high off the fumes to tell prophecies. if prophecies didnt come true the priests just say the person interrpreted it wrongly. so the witch is high off of sulfuric gas which also explains why she blows up.

Oh my god! That run cycle of the witch from 2:06 to 2:12 is frame for frame from Richard Williams "The Animator's Survival Kit"! The only design difference is that the witch has a bun in her hair and not a skinny pony tail. Looking through the book though, I can't tell if it used this film as an example or if the film used the book.
