To say he left the voicemail on a "constituent's" answering machine suggests that they had no other history... "former campaign opponent" or "rival" would be more accurate -- and paints the congressman in a much less unflattering light. You are missing the point. It has nothing to do with the evils of Atheism, but rather the evils of Communism. And they weren't just spreading Atheism, they were spreading the ideology of Communism with Atheism as an aspect (to keep the influence of the separate dogma of religion out).
I don't need a lecture. I already know and understand the history better than you. You are too caught up in your crazy biases to actually analyze the situation rather than try to use it to justify your prejudices.
There is nothing you can really cite as the evils of Atheism (AKA, there really aren't any evils of Atheism). It isn't an ideology (but rather simply the lack of a belief), and there is no evidence for any harm caused by that lack of belief.
Let me break this argument down into a few simple points:
1. Atheism is not a doctrine, does not have any organized form, does not spread itself, and does not have any violence in its name (it cannot, since it is by nature the absence of a name to cite as justification).
2. Communism IS a doctrine, was organized, did try to spread itself, and as part of that doctrine they discouraged religion because it possibly conflicted with Communist ideology and the absolute authority of Communist government. While there was an aspect of what looked like Atheism in there, it was not really Atheism (the lack of belief), rather it was the lack of belief in traditional churches.
Even if you consider that as Atheism (which is illogical, but I just want to prove the point that there is not a single piece of logic with which to build your argument), Communism was the driving force leading to the "greatest forms of cruelty and violations of justice," not Atheism.
In addition, almost all Atheists have nothing to do with Communism. This is this further proof that Atheism has nothing to do with the evils of Communism, and it makes judging Atheists by the actions of Communists even more nonsensical.
It is a different ideology, but that does not mean it is a mental disorder. People end up supporting liberal ideology in the same way they end up supporting conservative ideology. They just end up with different conclusions usually based on their life experiences (what they have seen, where they have grown up, etc.).
You know what I am going to say? Conservatism is a MENTAL DISORDER. You can't prove me wrong. You are just the crazy one, so obviously you don't think you are crazy.

Beyond that, both liberalism and conservatism are ideologies that are not exactly constant created mainly by the Democratic and Republican parties respectively in order to gain greater political viability. It really has nothing to do with mental illness.
They are also pretty much the same thing different party. Neither philosophy is really logical, and they are meant to play to a base more than be logical.

You have no way of knowing that you or your ideology are the absolute truth and authority on everything. You could be on a totally wayward thought tangent and just not have realized it. Ignoring the opposing viewpoint and calling them mentally ill instead of actually logically evaluating their viewpoints just means that you are making it so you have no idea whether you are actually right or not.
No matter how sure you are, being sure does not make your viewpoints logical or based in reality. Sometimes it just so happens that you end up arriving at the wrong conclusions (no person understands everything perfectly or is infinitely intelligent). You need to be able to let other people point that out, and if you just ignore that you can even be wrong, well, then like I said, you can just end up thinking the completely wrong thing.
Probably why study after study in political science shows a direct correlation with education and liberalism. This is not to say that it means liberals are necessarily more intelligent, but that the more educated you are the more likely you are to be liberal. So, I suppose all of our college professors and scientists could be mentally deranged, but I find that unlikely.

Your right i do want to here about things like this and it is important for us to know what politicians are doing. But stories like this are just the tip of the iceberg on what politicians are doing behind closed doors. I just am upset with what they think is news. The news is being selected for us. Thats why i say things like that. Alot less bill orielly and more about the troops in iraq. less christmas is under attack garbage and more about our planets health. These are things i want to hear.

Leave it to Fox News to make you listen to the voicemail in its entirety *and then* casually mention that Dow had run against Stark before. To say he left the voicemail on a "constituent's" answering machine suggests that they had no other history... "former campaign opponent" or "rival" would be more accurate -- and paints the congressman in a much less unflattering light. He's not belittling or insulting a stranger: he knows the guy, and is presumably speaking from experience.

That's funny, I hear a great concern for enlisted men in his comments to the individual here. Note that the soldier in question isn't merely writing as a soldier - he's writing as a political activist for the opposing party whose entire point was to cause a stir.

Yes in one sense you can indeed hate the 'Yahweh' or 'Allah' characters from those two holy books.
But when it's a believer saying something like 'they hate God', it sounds to me more like a suggestion that atheism is an immature rebellion against the one true God we all know exists.
To restate the main point: The "atheist" descriptor had no place in the title of this vid.

Stark seems awesome. What's whack is the way FOX framed the story, leading with Stark's tirade against 'a constituent,' and THEN revealing that Dow is not only a rightwing activist, but a former rival. In that case, a phonecall like Stark's is appropriate (where it might not be against a constituent with whom he had no prior experience). Stark was also right on when he breezed past the FOX camera hacks and their attempted ambush. What tools.

Pete Strak is against the Iraqi Civil War. I don't know an enormous amount about Stark off the top of my head I will admit that, but the fact that he opposes the Iraqi Civil War makes it pretty hard to conclude that he's anti-soldier.

The slaughters of Communism? That makes no sense though, because Athiesm and Communism are not the same thing. It just so happened that Communism was anti-religion (traditional religion at least), but that was more because it was a sort of dogma in itself, and also because it wanted to make its ideology the only influential one (in order to consolidate power). These people were not Atheists. They were totalitarian Communists.

He was preaching against communism in Poland, but the Russians were pushing atheism there and thius upset them.

You are missing the point. It has nothing to do with the evils of Atheism, but rather the evils of Communism. And they weren't just spreading Atheism, they were spreading the ideology of Communism with Atheism as an aspect (to keep the influence of the separate dogma of religion out).
I don't need a lecture. I already know and understand the history better than you. You are too caught up in your crazy biases to actually analyze the situation rather than try to use it to justify your prejudices.

There is nothing you can really cite as the evils of Atheism (AKA, there really aren't any evils of Atheism). It isn't an ideology (but rather simply the lack of a belief), and there is no evidence for any harm caused by that lack of belief.

Let me break this argument down into a few simple points:
1. Atheism is not a doctrine, does not have any organized form, does not spread itself, and does not have any violence in its name (it cannot, since it is by nature the absence of a name to cite as justification).

2. Communism IS a doctrine, was organized, did try to spread itself, and as part of that doctrine they discouraged religion because it possibly conflicted with Communist ideology and the absolute authority of Communist government. While there was an aspect of what looked like Atheism in there, it was not really Atheism (the lack of belief), rather it was the lack of belief in traditional churches.

It is a different ideology, but that does not mean it is a mental disorder. People end up supporting liberal ideology in the same way they end up supporting conservative ideology. They just end up with different conclusions usually based on their life experiences (what they have seen, where they have grown up, etc.).

To make my point even clearer:
You have no way of knowing that you or your ideology are the absolute truth and authority on everything. You could be on a totally wayward thought tangent and just not have realized it. Ignoring the opposing viewpoint and calling them mentally ill instead of actually logically evaluating their viewpoints just means that you are making it so you have no idea whether you are actually right or not.

No matter how sure you are, being sure does not make your viewpoints logical or based in reality. Sometimes it just so happens that you end up arriving at the wrong conclusions (no person understands everything perfectly or is infinitely intelligent). You need to be able to let other people point that out, and if you just ignore that you can even be wrong, well, then like I said, you can just end up thinking the completely wrong thing.

Probably why study after study in political science shows a direct correlation with education and liberalism. This is not to say that it means liberals are necessarily more intelligent, but that the more educated you are the more likely you are to be liberal. So, I suppose all of our college professors and scientists could be mentally deranged, but I find that unlikely.

It doesn't seem like any severe mental illness to me at least, maybe depression.
And no one gives straight-jackets anymore. What works are certain drugs and cognitive behavior therapy.
