@masercot for sure, go look up father Zacharia Boutros. And the most important thing is that NO ONE among the Islamic scholars ever managed to correct him. In his website there must be a list of these verses, there is for sure in the islamic site, i don't know about the English. But you can find a bunch of sources on the internet. Or, you can go ahead and read the Q'uran :).

Of course, I wasn't talking only about violence against the unbelievers: the 1200 verses about quotes against them, against specifically jews or christians, prescriptions to beau up women, or people who disobey or disrespect the Holy Prophet, there's everything. :)

@masercot So many people make this ignorant reply!! Yes but you forget the fundamental difference between Christianity and Islam: in christianity the not is not the word of God. It is inspired by God (in this sense we call it, word of God) but written by man, so it admits human mistake. The Word of God is Christ, and only what is said to him is considered as universally valid 9as the Word of God is) The Qur'an is believed to be composed word-by-word by God.

@lovehope88 I've known a lot of devout Christians who would consider what you just wrote blasphemy. I simply consider it insincere. In the end, they are both books about desert peoples that we really shouldn't care less about. But, since we care about one set of the children of Abraham, we should allow the religion that worships the other... Don't forget, Christianity was administered by the sword...

I brought you arguments, passages in the Gospels which prove what I just said, and you can just go check them yourself. lol, few christians read the bible literally, go ask any evangelical, anglican, catholic, baptist: Christ is the Word of God. You reply by saying that I am "insincere", which is simply childish and stupid. Prove me that I am insincere. Prove to me that what i said about Christ and Peter in the NT it wrong.

@lovehope88 "Insincere" must be a hot button word with you. Perhaps "ignorant" is for some folks, as well. I don't let either upset me. I already proved my point: There are one and a half billion Muslims. Either most of them are not devout, or Islam is not a religion of violence. Most Muslims manage to live in peace with others. If there is a flaw in my argument, please indicate it...

Christianity used to be administered by the sword because from Constantine, monarchs used the christian religion as a means to govern (the pagans had used paganism, the egyptians their religion and so on). No war that was made in the name of Christ can be demonstrated to be merely for christian ideals. The goals were money, power and territorial conquest. And your claim is vain to this conversation because, as i have ALREADY said, Christ PROHIBITS violence repeatedly in the Gospel.

in fact Christians do not follow the OT word by word: they do not follow the Jewish law (do not practice circumcision, do eat pork etc). Among those who said that the OT is not to be literally followed we have Peter, who told the first Christians to stop following the Jewish Law, and Christ, when talking about the marriage and in fact correcting the OT, Also, in the New Testament Jesus FORBIDS to practice violence for ANY reason. If you had read the NT, you'd know this.

@masercot bullshit, Muslims are called to believe that the Qur'an is the word of god, dictated word by word to Muhammad, and most muslims do follow it word by word. I countries in the ME and Pakistan the Sharia law is in fact applied as state law. It is illegal to drink wine, or eat pork, to convert from Islam to Christianity (I know people who are being persecuted), and so on. So yes 1.5 bil people do follow it and it is a chaos and a problem in the ME for non muslim minorities.

The number of terrorist acts, even members of Al Qaeda...EVEN members of the Taliban, are small compared to the overall number of Muslims... Open your eyes to your own bigotry. Most Muslims want to work, eat, sleep and screw...just like everyone else...

@lovehope88 Nice work on your response you even quoted some ahadith (applaud), did you not consider that the verses you are quoted and the hadith pertain to war time with combatants not non combatant and since you follow Jesus so closely I suppose you'll turn the other cheek being that your so righteous and all. :D. Did you think to quote the verses about peace? or being kind to your parents or neighbors? I love Jesus with all my heart as true muslims should....
