No disrespect to Skylark who were the original singers of this song "Wild flower", but New Birth took this incredible song to a new height that not even other great artists who covered it as well could match. Favorite song of all time, thanks to my parents!
I just heard this song yesterday and I love it. I have downloaded to my computer and all they sound so good, the ojays version is okay but I like theres better.
I'm too young for this, 24...loL I'm just playing, man I wish I was alive back then, Love seemed so much more obtainable, I almost wanna cry..out of all the versions they killed it harder than, the O'jays and martin N.
my favorite song to my daughters, this says everything that Dad feels about u!! love u Tameka La"shae, Monkette Renae and Zahierah Ya"Nae!! My Wild Flowers
New Birth is the key inspiration to my drumming style. As a singer I use thier music to patern my voice behind. They have always been my #1 band of all time.Thanx for the the great Love songs & all the funky stuff.
wildflower, live dam, i was 10, and remember this 2day, this man is so beautiful, i swear he was/is singing this song 2 me, yall dont know, i know cause he hit me right on the spot, i was mature for 10, i had 2 have him/ mom slapped me on the head, talking bout, girl shut up and sit down, i did, cause back than, you listened 2 grown folks, especially mom/dad
this is the worst camera work. Whoever is manning the cameras NEVER focused or did close-ups of the rest of the band. Ollie show can sang !! but they all could sing, even the band was extremely talented vocalist and musicians. The band (formerly known as the Night Liiters combined with New Birth -- and from that point on, recorded and performed under one name - NEW BIRTH Inc. I would LOVE to see and Unsung episode on New Birth too.
Oh my goodness..he can blow! The problem with today's music is the lack of passion, prose and power! The singers of old school soul/R&B came up in the church (like Leslie & Melvin Wilson) ..many migrated from down south & brought that rich vocal history with them...and blended it in.
This was one of my mommy's favorite songs... You know when the hands went into the air and the phrase... Lord, Have mercy rang through the home... you knew she was in her moment...

This is no doubt the BADDEST RAPPING SONG ever made! At the 4:07 mark when Mr Wilson says "Sit down baby, and let me RAP to you for a second." he was NOT talking about this Crap they are trying to pass off as music today. He was so deep in what he was telling this lady and if you had no rap back then, you could just borrow from the NEW BIRTH.
What memories! I would love to be in the 70's again. He could not pass out anymore flowers at about 4:43 he was so full of emotion. Love Love this song!

After the release of their sixth RCA album, Comin' From All Ends, the group split from RCA, Fuqua and their management company and signed with Buddah.
New Birth's Buddah debut, Blind Baby, featured the group's only number-one R&B single, a cover of the Jerry Butler classic, "Dream Merchant". After the release of the 1977 album, Behold The Mighty Army, the Wilson brothers split from the group following in-fighting and growing tensions in the group.
The group returned in 1979 James Baker, Tony Chruchill and Austin Lander introduce Jerry Bell as their new lead vocalist with Platinum City and in 1982 with the I'm Back album. The Wilsons toured with a new ensemble as New Birth in 1994, and released a few albums under the new name in the decade since.
