Why doesn't Charlie Brown tell those so-called "friends" of his off? Stand up for yourself, Charlie Brown! And Linus should help him, too! He's a NICE guy!
A surprisingly melancholy film, but also with a good message about however much you screw up, life still goes on. Also good for showing kids that yes, childhood can be depressing and that other people have had bad times with it...which actually makes it easier for kids to bear.
I was born in 65. I don't care what anyone says about today's cartoons being hip and contemporary...Charlie Brown is magnificent and inspiring with overtones as well. Thank you Charles Shultz! Rest in Peace creator of inspiration.
@smoothjazzweolfe Amen to that. I grew up on this cartoon and Race For Your Life and Bon Voyage Charlie Brown and Don't Come Back!, during the early 90s, back when USA still had the Cartoon Express and all cartoons were not crap. And then when I was 8, Nickelodeon showed all the Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show episodes and every other special including "What Have We Learned, Charlie Brown?" a tribute to the WWII vets, and then they took them off and never showed them again. WHY?
@smoothjazzweolfe I think a lot of pple would argue just the opposite. I was born in '91 and I remember watching lots of cartoons from the 60s onward. When I was little I watched a lot of Hanna-Barbara cartoons and I discovered Charlie Brown when I was about 9 or 10 years old and loved it (Cartoon Network aired Bon Voyage Charlie Brown as part of its Cartoon Theater segment on Sundays).
Charlie Brown isn't a loser, far from it,he exhibits kindness and humilty in the face of cruelty and perseveres. He certainly doesnt deserve the treatment he gets from Lucy and the gang.
The world would be a much nicer place of there were more Charlie Browns.
Charles Schulz said in his 1963 documentary that Charlie Brown was the kind of friend he would have liked to have as a boy because he was kind and innocent.
Sadly Charles Schulz's gentle humor is lost on today's generation.
@JimRockford1977 Today's generation meaning what age group in particular? Because I'm 20 and I loved Charlie Brown as a child and still do. I especially love the jazz music, it's the same reason I love the Pink Panther and Tom & Jerry cartoons from the same era.
Thanks "theonlinepeanuts" for posting this wonderful movie!
I saw this as a child and it affected me deeply, especially the hauntingly beautiful theme "A Boy Named Charlie Brown" sung by Rod McKuen.
"people after all start out as being small, and we're all a boy named Charlie Brown" We've all felt like good 'ol Charlie Brown at times in our lives, but thank God
for our Linus's & Snoopy's who stick by us and remind us "the world didn't end"
I miss Cinema Center Films. They didn't make too many films but a few of them were great---not just this one but also "Little Big Man" with Dustin Hoffman.
Thanks for posting, you rule! This movie reminds me soooo much of my childhood. It was particularly special to me because I too was my school spelling bee champ :)
thats odd. charlie brown in the cast intro was wearing a red shirt?! they must have let the concept art in LOL JK

This was the first Peanuts movie I remember watching.
The jazz muzak that plays on it is priceless.
And I only recall it playing TWICE in the UK since my birth (1994)
