Don't let the glamorization of the "sweet science" get you caught up. George Foreman, one of the greatest ever, was just a slugger. He was far from technical, threw looping punches from his hip. Ali ridiculed his fighting. It takes more skill to be a kickboxer than to be a boxer. Boxing is relatively simple compared to MMA.

Also,most MMA fighters come from a background like kickboxing, wrestling, bjj, karate, muay thai, AND boxing. Guys who are COMPLETE strikers compete in MMA. @Mr9mm4u You do know MMA fighters train boxing too? Hence the reason they're called Mixed Martial Artists! It's an easier transition for a MMA fighter to go to boxing, than it is for a boxer to go to MMA. That being said, if a MMA trained nothing but boxing, then yes, he could defeat an elite boxer. Probably not a MMA who's striking is extremely poor, but for the most part, the average B level MMA can defeat a boxer if he trains full time in boxing. Boxing is NOT hard! It's easy compared to MMA.

Boxing isn't the only combat that uses those moves. Silva doesn't even box in the cage. He's good because he's WORLD CLASS STRIKER! He knows Bjj, Boxing, Muay Thai, and many other disciplines.

Don't let the glamorization of the "sweet science" get you caught up. George Foreman, one of the greatest ever, was just a slugger. He was far from technical, threw looping punches from his hip. Ali ridiculed his fighting. It takes more skill to be a kickboxer than to be a boxer. Boxing is relatively simple compared to MMA.

It's an easier transition for a MMA fighter to go to boxing, than it is for a boxer to go to MMA. That being said, if a MMA trained nothing but boxing, then yes, he could defeat an elite boxer. Probably not a MMA who's striking is extremely poor, but for the most part, the average B level MMA can defeat a boxer if he trains full time in boxing. Boxing is NOT hard! It's easy compared to MMA.

All he had to do iskeep Martinez at bay with his jab & land the left hand when opportunity presented itself.
