Garrard Made Some Beautiful Turntables Way Back When Hi-Fi Was REAL HI-FI! Not The COMPLETE TRASH! They Pass Off As True Hi-Fi These Days, That Marantz Receiver Is Pretty Tasty Too. Talking Heads Are So Cool, David Byrne Is One AWESOME ARTIST! But Highly Underrated In The UK Sadly But I Can See He's Awesome
i just gave away to a church resale shop a garrard turntable and a sony and a sansui stereo. they are good machines but i'm putting all my records on my computer. have fun.
Nice! Many older, classic stereo receivers like Pioneer, Sansui, Marantz, and Fisher had incredible build quality and sound. They are sought after collector's items now. Thanks for sharing.
Wow Gerrard turntable I can remember one required a fair amount of strength of the index finger to bring the needle to the vinyl but had auto return so that was blessing. In those days manual skill was a must haha
I have Polk 'Monitor 10' speakers. They absolutely BLOW AWAY anything digital I have heard via iPOD, Zune, Sansa, etc, with ear buds and headphones. I love digital MP3 as well, but the sound isn't nearly as good as a good turntable, or HDCD, XRCD, or SACD.
He isn't so much showing off the sound, that would be like expecting to show off your LCD's great color gamut through a youtube video, you are limited by your recording device and the end listener's output device. Instead he is showing off the various components and how well matches they are.
It's kind of amazing to me that an early 60's turntable delivers an output for a far newer receiver... It didn't make sense to me at first, because when I was a kid I listened to a lot of those old Garrards and they sounded like awful... Obviously they weren't attached to good receivers... This one sounds awesome...
By the way, what type of cartridge is used by this turntable?
Oh no don't let SamuraiClinton see you showing a radio in your video, because he believes that anyone who listens to the radio is trash, and will fill your channel with bullshit comments about how MP3 is his Lord and Saviour.
I've seen the shit he says. All you do is show a radio in your video, and he goes insane, ranting and raving, and when you object to his hissy fit, he screams about how he's not the one who started the war, and doesn't want to fight, when he's the shit-stirrer.
Nice rig and I love that Garrard! The turntable is a Garrard Lab Series Type A. It was made probably late 1963 or early 1964. I have an Allied catalog from March 31, 1964 and that same turntable is in there. Also the Youtuber Chromebumper has that same model in his Dumont stereo console, but the baseplate is gray and white.
marantz are good goods!

Should have flipped through his vinyl while playing. I mainly run Marantz 4240 +4 with Ar2a's that sound & look amazing in oiled walnut.

Good system, but speakers would sound much tighter if they were placed on dedicated stands, instead of a cupboard!
