  • @coreyleachproduction I am 14 and have the same hopes. currently writing a screenplay in the hopes of making an independent film at some point. at this point I' m writing and saving up for a good camera. If you want to work together at some point, message me

  • I think the best way of becoming a film director is by making a short film that people notice in film festivals. Of course directing is much like singing, either you can do it or you can't. It's the one thing that is based on creative talent. Therefore, by attending a film school, any aspiring director can get their hands on a crew, equipment, and actors with the same fervor to make movies, and IF the talent is there, you can get an agent and get work. Agree?

  • i want to be a director so bad

i dont even know why it just feels right

  • I always loved film in college and wanted to be a film director. I want to know how to get into film! I liked listening to music for the last two years because I never really listened before, but it was more for watching the videos and not the music. So, how do you get into film?

  • Does this guy have no emotions at all?

  • It has always been my dream, I know I'm gonna reach it..I know it...

  • you don't always have to go to film school, right?

  • @musicdork4ever No. You just need A Camcorder (Or camcorderS You can never have to many!) You don't even need scripts You could just do inprovs (Acting without A script) And A love for filming

  • @musicdork4ever you only learn how to edit movies etc all the basics stuff of making movies you will learn on a film school and when your done with it you have to promote yourself to other movie studio's and get a crew etc

  • @musicdork4ever right

  • @musicdork4ever if u have rich parents and friends who loooove movies, and are willing to work many hours, days, weeks, on a film with little to no pay, then yes. Oh, and not to mention film equipment, and at least a guy who knows something about cinematography and lighting, If you don't have that, then you;ll just end up with a crappy youtube video, not a film.

  • Hey ppl,I'm an aspiring film maker, music composer and music producer.I'm sure I'll make it HUGE in Hollywood very soon.Thing is,I don't have any contacts. So I really don't know ppl who are actors or aspiring actors,so I'm planning to make a movie which has no actors with the visual aspects intact and amazing instrumental music which I'll compose on Logic Studio.Do you think it'll pay off?And which camera do you think I should purchase, something which does the job well and is not very expensive.

  • @pepparthewolf if u are scared then u re not ready. u have to find out if it suits u and if u are passionate about it. then if u like it, u could do double major to be safer.

  • I am a film composer and if anyone needs a composer for their film, I will be more than happy to do it! Just send me a message, add me on facebook and let me know if you want me to help you out!

  • @composer321 Listen man, I have 12 great ideas for movies, and i'm working with the screen plays and books. If you can help me get my foot in the door, I am more than willing to talk. However, i'm only 17, so we can't meet up anytime soon, but I am more than willing to talk about some ideas. But if we keep in touch, I promise you and me will make our names in the film industry. I'm alittle different then most writers, i will explain that to you if you reply, which you should do, plz.

  • @BmoreSavage111 Hello. I would love to talk about ideas to work on. I am trying to get my foot in the door as well. I am 19 and trying to get noticed best I can through festivals and such.

  • i'm 13 and i'm making videos on youtube i have 100 subscribers check me out i got a new camcorder and once my desktop is back i will be able to edit on a good system :D

  • He's directed 2 five minute long short films and one film tat essentially was terrible.

  • do u need a dagree in filmmaking to be a director and make a movie that will be shown in theaters?

  • what age can u become a film director... is there any limits?

  • @cfl1116 definitely not Im 12 and I am making movies.

  • This is BS. You want to be a film maker? Learn each and every aspect of film making. Write a script (in correct format), Learn your camera of choice, Learn to edit, then cast and shoot. Remember to learn from mistakes.

Do that about three times, show it online and listen to constructive criticism. By the fourth time you will have developed your own style and viola you're a filmmaker. That will take anywhere from 18 months to two years or more.

You cant roll out of bed tomorrow and be a director.

  • Thanks for this video! I'm gonna work on some story and get some friends together to work on it.

  • Funny thing about Hollywood film directors. Some of them are already wearing the 3 hats (producer, writer, director) during the production. Now they want to make a small cameo in the film? What more film credits do they want? Kinda funny if you thing about it.

  • I'll be making movies, someday.

  • what is the best site to submit your films and recieve some feedback and be recognised?

  • I know this may seem like a rude question, but I've been thinking as I watched these videos, who is this guy that I'm taking film advice from? A graduate of UCLA who hasn't made anything even worth recognizing in the world of film? I would hardly call this guy an expert.

  • stop killing my dream

  • good video!

My only comment is never follow any rules..if you want to create or write something...do it your way..ive encounter so many writers that can only write a screenplay in Syd Field style or can only edit with this russian style or method...break the rules and create something uinique...then get into the nightmare of financing that uniqueness...

  • thanks for the tips i love being a director it's my passion and i practice every day for the whole day i film constantly so thanks for putting this together

  • I've been attacking this filmmaking interests since I was little, in a way I didn't even know. I loved movies so much, I used my toys and made my own movies, but of course w/out a camera and whatnot. Now Im 17 and am making movies a lot, except I don't have professional actors or people who can act good, I use my cousins who are like 3 years younger than me, and I hate that my vision isnt properly displayed bc of them, I would love to show my Vision in a proper way. Have PASSSION is the key. :)
