If you thought that Mr.Harris hated"Uncle Croc's Block"..he must have dispised playing "Uncle Martin"on this lousey animated cartoon tv version of"My Favorite Martians!".
Is this a copy of a copy of a copy of a videotaped opening to the cartoon show? I mention this because the quality is quite a bit blurred. The way I understand it, if you make a copy of a copy of a copy of something, such as a photograph or photocopied document, the quality starts going down. By the way, this is one of my very favorite cartoon shows from childhood.
Very cool. I was pleasently surprised to find a VHS of this at a thrift shop. It had two episodes: the one where Oakie learns to talk to the neighborhood animals, and the one where Andy splits into three.
Too bad they had to muck it up with that abortion of a movie back in the late '90s. I oft wondered who chewed the most scenerey Elizabeth Hurley, or the poor schmuck that played her boyfriend
I remember seeing this when it first aired. Either 1973 or 74. I recognized Jonothan Harris' distinct voice immediatly. I still remember some of the episodes, including the one where Andy split up into three personalities: Also remember Uncle Martin's "special house alarm....the BSD, the Brennan Snoop Detector to keep his nosy neighbor "Brennan" at arm's length. Early 70s was a fun time when toons were still vulgar free and yet managed to be funny.
Jonathan Harris was voice of uncle martian n was doctor smith on lost n space also was the voice on the Three Museteers u see on bananna splts show he was that one with the beard n moustache
I LOVED THIS SHOW!!!! I want it on DVD I went looking for it on the net but no luck, I tried the 'Groovie Goolies and Friends' DVD i heard it was on but no luck? can anyone source this show from somewhere? please help I would love my kids to watch it!!!
I love this show since i was a kid..I watch it everyday and never missed an episode back in the 1970's and thank you for posting it..The memories of the show are great!!..Peace!
This was going to be released on DVD along with some other Filmation toons by the damn Production companies that originally sanctioned them want more money than The RIAA. But I digress.
Make that one of two. I'd try to explain to people that there was another show called "My Favorite Martian" [sic] besides the Ray Walston classic, and they'd look at me like I was insane. Vindication!
I use to nickname this show, "Poopsie Game '73/'74". Anytime he got dunked in the rain barrel, it would be like winning $5,000 & would sing the theme to "The Wizard of Odds" (Alex Trebek game show).
I remember when I was about 6 or 7 years old when we first got a color TV set, my dad plugged it in and the first show that popped up was this and I was like "Woah! Look at all that color!"
Learned from entry in Wikipedia: Andy's real name is Andromeda, and he first appeared in an episode of the live-action show with Ray Watson and Bill Bixby.
Correct, actually, My Favorite Martians was sort of an extension of the original series. Hal Sutherland loved the Andromeda episode (which ironically was the last episode for the live series) and decided on making 'Andy' a teenage version of the character.
Jonathan Harris (TV's Dr. Smith from 'Lost in Space') did the voice for 'Uncle Martin'. Usually the episodes focused more on Andy than Martin at times. But it was still a great program, nonetheless.
Filmation's shows on Sat. Mornings made my awful Jnr/snr High school years bearable, and made the weekends fun! And now I'm a freelance writer! "Thank you, Uncle Martin."
FYI Brennan was the name of the Detective in the live action MFM that was trying to get the goods on Martin and was a supposed rival for Mrs. Brown's affections.
I remember it when it first aired in 1973! Jonathan Harris (1914-2002)did Uncle Martin's voice before working on Space Academy in 1977. It was okay, but not a big hit. Either way, I loved it!
Did ye ever get the feeling that Filmation took this pre-licensed TV cartoon thing a bridge too far?

Actually, Ray Walston was the voice for Uncle Martin, which made sense since he played that role in the TV show.
contessakitty 2 years ago
Nope! Jonathan Harris was the animated voice.
MissOddstar 2 years ago
Not so. Jonathan Harris voiced Uncle Martin. Ray Walston was on the prime time show.
