  • @XxFightinDirtyxX its compounded a certian amount of times. for example 5% of $10 is .50 but 5% of 10.50$ is .525 and so on.

  • i don't know if i'm going to be able to understand this when i'm sober.......

  • thanks, helped me A LOT

  • not helpful just sayin dont kill yourself after this

  • @JosephG1993 you are right: it's not helpful

  • 11 person fail add math XD

  • Arithmetic Return (R)

     This is for one time period:

    R = (Pt+1

    - Pt + D) / Pt

    R = Arithmetic Return

    Pt+1 = Closing share price

    Pt = Opening share price

    D = Dividends

    I just cannot get my head around this... Can anyone help me

  • MAKE MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS AND MAKE THE WHOLE WORLD EDUCATED

  • Hmm when i used this compound interest formula: P(1+r/100)^n i got 11.576(5 s.f) thats like so far away from the answer ... can anyone tell me why?

  • @blueroan4 that made me lmao

  • it's the natural log of the stock price divided by what?? What's S to the O!?!?

  • @blueroan4 that made me lmao

  • wtf does e stand for

  • @hugewais

    e is an irrational number like pi. Its never ending. The first few digits of e is 2.718281828

  • @hugewais "e" is named after a mathematician whose last name was "Euler".

  • @mathgeekphysics actually that is a misnomer. He happens to have used e, but I've read on a site that that was just coincidental - i guess he just liked the way it looked.

  • hope that my teacher was like you

  • Help smart people!

    If Log(420/440,2)*1200 = -80.4

    what is Log(432/440,2)*1200 = ? It should be somewhere around 33

    P.S. I've never seen a number expressed 440,2 (that's a comma)

  • the way you write it is confusing. i understand it better if its 2=log 10 100 rather than log 10 100 equals 2.

  • are you suffering from dyslexia

  • ni the other waay just makes a lot more sense.

  • no i am not asshole. the other way just makes a little more sense.

  • having dyslexia would not mean that you are an asshole

    check who else have dyslexia from da vinci to edison, tom cruise, churchill

    the way you want to see is really unusual just like you wrote

    ni for in

  • it seems you have dyslexia ;) you missed a very important letter that could change the meaning of my sentence. i said (no i am not asshole) i left out the letter A meaning i was reffering to you as the asshole not myself. but seriously man i type fast, i dont have dyslexia. ive seen other math videos where its written the other way. its not unusual its just the other way man.

  • bionicturtledotcom,

    Excellent video, very educational.

    i am a sophmore currently enrolled in a math major --actuarial concentration.

    i am very interested in learning the methods and techniques of risk management; i want to learn the math part of it.

    will the actuarial concentration in a math major expose me to the math of risk and probabilities?

    i would greatly appreciate it if you can comment on my question. thanks in advance.

    alex

    actuarial concentration

  • Damn you're good! My IB SL Maths teacher tried to teach us this all in 4 lessons and most people (including me) didn't understand it, and you explain it all in less than 10 minutes and I understand it perfectly. You're a hero!

  • amiregistered,

    Thanks for your encouragement. I teach the entire FRM (risk) curriculum, so i definitely have advanced material to share. I just wanted to start with elementary concepts because my customers often request it...if you stay tuned , I promise over time i will get to advanced quant finance!

  • Don't stop, your videos are greatly appreciated!

  • Thank for the videos. I'm really happy finding educational videos in youtube. You've shown some elementary things here, I'm looking forward for some more "professional" videos. Again thanks a lot!
