hey man ive been modden the ole' 00' V6, im deff a car enthusiast. Ive spent about 4k on everything may have been a waste to do work on a sixxer but w/e gotta start somewhere right? Owellz back to the point im about to buy the 99-04 GT, and coming from you,I think your shit sounds wicked man. I wanna ask what exactly is your setup? lmfao, cause im seriously going to get it.
nice!! i like how it sounds like it wants to rip your head off on top end. i'm glad that you know how to make a good vid of what exhaust sounds like. nothing pisses me off more than when people post a video as "my car revving" and they never get about 2000 rpm. nice ride and props to you!!
there is a reason why most people dont rev that high in exhaust videos, revving an engine to redline or near redline while the car is in neutral, is very bad for an engine, i only rev to 4200 while parked in my exhaust videos for that reason....
that's a very common misconception and probably the reason why most people hardly ever rev their engine in these videos. as long as you have a rev limiter or you make sure you don't rev it past redline, it doesn't hurt the engine as long as it's warmed up. think about it, there is no load on the engine so the stress on the internal parts is less, thus it's easier on the engine.
ok, see how long a 4.6 lasts hitting the fuel cutoff at 6050 rpms in neutral, then let me know if it's safe when you hear metal striking metal because you threw out a bearing being stupid, even guys with built racing engines dont rev that high in neutral except when launching the car on slicks, and they have engines built for abuse, so you think about it
of course holding it pinned for an extended amount of time is going to be harmful to the engine. that's not what i'm saying, a quick rev up to redline will in no way hurt the engine if it is warmed up. take a walk in the pits of any drag racing event......you will hear engine revs up to redline all the time when they are tuning their engines.
