It was not released as a commercial single but you can find promo versions on ebay, amazon etc. The only other way is to buy the soundtrack album of the same name, which was released commercially.

About eight years ago (already?) I went through a breakup with someone who was leaving on a plane, never to return. It was one of those situations where you keep saying "if only the timing/place/circumstances had been different" and it gets you nowhere. I was in a grocery store late at night after he was gone just pushing an empty cart around endlessly while this song played. This song somehow summed up every hurt I felt at that moment.

This is a great song. I happened to be on the PCH near the Vebtura/ LA County line in 1999 when she was filming a portion of this. I would have never known the name of it if I hadn't asked a production asst. what was going on, with all the camera vehicles and the like!

You can find this song on the movie title CD 'the princess diary', but I'm not sure. This is terrible, because I happen to have the CD in my collection. Look up Susan Sarandon for movies and you'll find out the right title. I found my CD on ebay about 6 years ago, but I'm almost positive you can still find an elusive one on EBAY. The whole CD is absolutely perfect. I have been playing it all this summer because I happen to be in one of those I wish I could move away moods!

k. d. Lang nails this one with just the right touch of pissed-off whimsy. No one else could sing this song as well and her voice comes across as elegant and bitchy like she might just sit down and talk it over with you sometime when she's not getting the hell away from everything. Kinda reminiscent of Bowie's "Is there life on mars"...

I started working at Wal-Mart in 2005, and I first heard it on their loudspeaker radio (something that you don't hear anymore), and I couldn't make out any of the words for a long time, but when I finally found out the title, I was ecstatic! I bought the soundtrack album later in 2006 or 2007. It's a real shame this song is so hard to find outside owning the CD - it's a fantastic song!

Yeah, this is truely a Muzak staple song, pumped through virtually every retail/grocery store PA.

There are also a couple other songs from other artists (unknown to me) that I would love to find and remain a mystery to me. One has the phrase "new day" or "it's a new day" repeated in the chorus, but no luck on finding that one, maybe someday?

However, the soundtrack album is out there but that hasn't been released digitally as far as I can see.. again I don't know why.
