im pretty sure matt bellamy uses a range of sequencers saved into a computer, which is kinda similar to a synth. with the micro korg u still managed to get a great sound, well done.
Thanks man. I think Bellamy runs it through a synth setup, changing octave levels at certain intervals. Had a pic of the hadware he used somewhere. A great sound though all in all.
True, he does have a Midi X-Y Controller in his guitar that is linked to a Kaoss Pad, but he changes his guitars for different usages, and for MOTP he has a link to a certain type of synth setup which gets him the sound he uses. It's all made out in a sequenced pattern and octaves as I said. Its similar to how Chris, the bassist, in certain songs plays clean bass, while a synth plays the distorted parts e.g Hysteria for the best example.
@ElegantWaster for map of a problematique live, matt has a line splitter, with one line going out into his amp normally, clean, while the other goes through a midi setup. this midi setup has a whammy, which creates the octave sound, and that's it as far as i know.
also, chris' bass is nothing to do with synth set ups...he is always playing bass from what i've seen, he just uses a fuzz pedal to create distorted parts.
For Matt's splitter, he doesn't go into a regular whammy, but through a Nord Modular G2 I think which has it's own arpeggiator that applies the whammy effects.
You're right about Chris almost alwaya playing bass, but the distorted bass bits are usually on playback or done by Morgan in the back, while Chris plays a clean bassline over for extra effect. For a while upon first playing Time Is Running Out live, Chris played the bass bits on a synth himself.
@ElegantWaster thats not true. chris only ever used a bass backing track during the first few shows of absolution's tour during time is running out. he never does for hysteria. its all chris. and matt just has his on kind of modulator which splits the tone into 2 leads: one with an up octave and one with a down octave that shift at different times to give the full motp sounds
What number of program is this?

The /arpeggiated/ part you can hear is done with a sample and hold oscillator. It sounds a lot like one of the Roland JV presets

I think he's using the Kaoss pad on his guitar but idk, I'm not sure. There are guitar tabs but I might be mistaken. Great job :o

And all I wanted to do in this vid was give a simpler alternative to folks with a Microkorg. Pretty fun to figure out though.

He has a Korg Kaoss KP2 IN his guitar.
