  • Valhalla, hall of the fallen, half of those who willingly died in battle came to Odin, the other half to Freya. The fallen were taken by Valkyries to the land of the gods. Freya took her fallen warriors to Folkvangr for a good afterlife. those that did not die in battle were taken by the goddess Hel (Hella) to Niflheim, or Helheim. There is to much to explain here, read on the Inet^^

  • I was a bit "what, this isn't Valhalla..." until 1:45.

  • He has a neck beard

  • You've got it all wrong. It's old nordic derived from Valhöll. It's still the word in Icelandic, that's the language closest to the old norse. Which was spoken in most northern europe 2-3 thousand years ago. And Yggdrasill is right too, Yggur means Óðinn and Drasill or Drösull means horse. It's the name of the life tree that Óðinn tied his horse to.

  • @hlobbi It's Walhöllr in Old Norse. Icelandic is much closer to Old Norse than the continental Nordic languages, but it's not identical to it. Also, Old Norse wasn't spoken 2-3000 years ago, it was spoken from the beginning of the viking age (or shortly before) until a few centuries after its end. Two thousand years ago they didn't even speak Proto-Norse yet, and three thousand years ago... Well nobody knows for sure, but they may not even have spoken Proto-Germanic yet.

  • @Sakkura1 I just read about this, the spelling needs to be taken with disclaimer that the roman text wasn't used at that time. Viking runes did exist but norse mythology is mostly preserved mouth to mouth. The time 2000 years is maybe wrong too, but the fact is most Icelanders can read text from 870 with ease. Which makes me very proud of my almost pure language, which is Icelandic.

  • Google Yggdrasil for more heritage of the old native Europeans.

  • We Dutch Germans say "Walhalla"

  • my day will come to

  • Ich glaube alle Menschen die Wagner lieben gehören einem bestimmten Schlag von Menschen an. Und dieser Schlag ist für mich der beste den es gibt =)

  • @Gruenkreuz100 es gibt keinen bestimmten Schlag von Menschen, der Wagner mag. Ihn mögen Liberale genauso wie Konservative und Nazis, junge genauso wie alte Menschen, arme und reiche, etc etc. Musik ist Gott sei Dank universal.

  • @Ilsimeone, we might think so, but there are many dumb people that connects Wagner with fascism. Kein Mangel an Dummheit.

  • I like it so much.

  • ohhhh sooo beautiful!!!

  • @soeren1707 Valhalla is the english translation of Valhall

  • @Stravinsky91 in germany its "Walhalla"

  • @Stravinsky91 Valhalla is the old Germanic form, so actualy Valhall is the modern German form of Valhalla.

  • @Stravinsky91 actually is the bastardized way of saying and spelling it.... the "english translation" would be "Slain hall" when translated literally but it goes without saying that it means Hall of the Slain.

  • @Stravinsky91 I thought it meant vaxhaull =S

  • @soeren1707

the proper angliziced form of the old norse "Valhöllr" is valhalla, valhall is the name in most modern norse languages

  • @soeren1707 I thought it was "Entrance in a Vauxall"

  • @soeren1707 Valhalla is the english translation of Valhall

  • Este es el que más me ha gustado (sobre todo por la música)pero aparte de wagner tienes que adentrarte en otros campos.

  • I think POWERFUL is just the word for his music it stirs your heart and soul and it just grabs me by the balls. I love it and i dont give a toss if he was Hitlers fav composer

  • Some of Wagner's most exciting music! I simply adore it! Love turning up the volume to my CD player in the car and having other people hear it LOL

  • I do that to! Especially Ride of The Valkyries.

  • Absolutely love this music! It is amazing! But that's Wagner for you, "AMAZING MUSIC" must be his middle name!
