South Carolina DUI Tragedy

Doesn't suprise me one bit. My sister's ex-boyfriend was a horrible drunk, and I despise him for that. Not "hate" but despise. He's had 2 DUI's and he continues to drive thorough the streets drunk. Justice my ass. If justice was real he'd be in jail; he could've killed someone and he probably will one day.

Oddly, this is the first I've heard about the deaths by DUI here in South Carolina. It seems I've been too focused on the other issues that South Carolina seems to be the worst at.

Where is your outrage? You post a compelling video yet I, a resident of South Carolina, don't even know that you are pushing for harsher DUI laws. You and your supporters should be marching the streets, appealing to the people of South Carolina.

This stirs up peoples emotions just like "The Passion." Next thing you know laws reach a draconian level and exist to serve no one but the legal system and special interest groups like MADD. Proof? Several years ago my brother and I both received DUIs. Neither of us were in our cars, but the keys were in the ignition. Thousands of people busted for "drunk driving" under the same law. Finally someone took the matter to the state supreme court, and the law was abolished. Stop the MADDness.

Governor Sanford, Please do all that you can to pass Kelli's Law. Kelli's Law would help so many people and you would have less videos (like this one) to post on myspace. We don't want to see more videos of families who have lost someone because of drunk driving. Rather, make it a personal goal to one day post a video with familes who have benefited from Kelli's Law. That's what we want to see. Happiness and change, not preventable tragedy.

It's tragedies like this and countless other ones that show the severity of the need for the passing of Kelli's Law. How a man who murdered a 5 year old boy who was also charged with other offenses can stay out of prison by exploiting some bullshit law is completely beyond me. I is Imperative that the Senator's wake up and PASS KELLI'S LAW! There are to many loop holes in the DUI Laws. My ex husband was a repeat offender. Each time he went to court they would let him off on a lesser sentence. If it was his third offence they would lessen it to his first. The judges continue to do this today. He has had so many Alchol related wrecks than I can count and has never been charged with more than third offence DUI

The most logical start to cracking down on DUI offender's is to ad section 23-6-115 (aka "Kelli's Law") which provides field breathalyzer devices in all patrol vehicles. All it needs is approval.
