Of course, the better your machine and the better your cutting tools, such as the Okuma machine and helical cutters you see in this video, the faster you can go. Good question! All machining environments are different, of course, but we seem to average about 3x to 4x increase in tool life running like this. In some cases we've done better (one shop went from about 4 tools per part to 4 parts per tool on a particularly large part) and cut cycle time by around 60% as I recall.
