There was ONE extra suit; the Patrol Security Suit, which you can get from the Severed DLC. DLC items will always appear in the store, even on Hard Core.

I died 15 times at the last save spot for these reasons: eye machine, regenerator, ass load of amount of enemies at the maze part and Nichole. But if you keep your cool and know what you're doing along with knowing how to use the necromorph spikes. Also remember this, THE FORCE GUN IS YOUR FRIEND!. @SickneZZ2 Laundry room freaked me out too. I practiced it and the train ride like 10 times on zealot. The spawns are randomized but the order is the same every time. First is the slasher. I would stand in the corner of your choice and get a line gun at the ready. Don't get a TK rdy because first slasher might drop right on top of u and you can't use a TK at close range. If he drops away just grab a TK and impale that sucker. Next is the puker. Catch his puke and throw back.
@SickneZZ2 This is where it gets hard. You get a slasher drop followed close by a leaper. Just like our master said if you dont freeze the leaper right away he is liable to land a shot on you. I just run out of my corner and try to make a guess on what vent he will drop out of. If you are right then freeze and finish him off fastest way possible cuz that slasher will be right behind u by then. After these 2 its only 3 (2?) slashers and they are easy to beat with either TK or PC

I'm starting it today. You're walk through has already helped me remember which side of the hall way to stay on (Last turn, the one that breaks through the glass? Screw him, he already killed me.)
and my tips for weapons: the plasma cutter (of course since it's the best and most reliable weapon that is useful against all enemies from cysts to tripods), the javelin gun (very high damage and once u got the special upgrade u can kill hives and brutes with 1 shot n 1 additional javelin to activate alt fire). so master these weapons and that'll do a lot. u can also fire a javelin into the ground and activate its alt fire to take out a bunch of packs.
i'm not watching the video since i don't need help. but i'm sure it's helpful. i already beat it on 3 different profiles and i'm busy now beating it for a friend.
my tips for saves are:
1. chapter 7 before the tripod elevator
2. before the drill ride (chapter 10 or 11?)
3. before the eye poking machine ;)
you can't JUST beat hardcore, you gotta now the game well. be mindful with your ammo, check ur ammo status and ur weapon clips regularly, use stasis if u need to or if you get overwhelmed.
You are the smartest guy who has ever played Dead Space in the world. I beat the first game on impossible difficulty very easily, and I thought, Since I did that, Dead Space 2 on hardcore will be no problem. But it was. I kept dying around Chapter 5 and I got so pissed off that I didn't play the game for about 4 months. after u beat hardcore you can use that 'cleared game' file for any difficulty (except hardcore) to use the stuff and upgrades u already have. u also unlock the hand cannon which gives u a lot of good laughs ;) but also makes the game boring after a while since it's immensely powerful and has infinite ammo
i took me until the 49 minute mark to realize why you always wait before killing the infectors. you try to get an extra item by killing the one the infect right.

The Line Gun, Ripper, and Detonator are my main guns; and I also use the Contact Beam and Force Gun for certain parts.
If you want to see just how awesome the Line Gun can be, I recommend you make time sometime to watch this walkthrough; ya just might learn something. =)

i agree that the line gun is easier to use since it's got a wide beam and can hit multiple enemies, the javelin gun takes a bit more skill to use since u really gotta hit ur target, but is ultimately more powerful AND has way cheaper ammo.
The JG's primary really isn't much harder to use than the LG, unless you're trying to go for limb shots, which is kinda pointless if it's fully-upgraded (and it should be). Body shots are not that difficult to score.
As for the JG being more powerful, that's only true for the final boss's core. Most enemies that the JG can kill in one shot with max DMG nodes can be killed using the LG with only 2+ DMG nodes, since the LG can hit multiple body parts at once.
And what I meant regarding the weapons' alt fire modes is that one shot of the LG's will kill anything except a Brute with no ALT upgrades, whereas 1 shot of the JG's has a difficult time killing dark necros even with full ALT+SPC upgrades (though I think buggy hit detection plays into this, as well).
Yes, the LG's is less "on-demand", but it would be grossly overpowered if it weren't.
Also, I'd just like to point out that Stasis is free and recharges over time, and you don't always need to use it with the LG's mines if you have good timing and know how to take advantage of the fact that enemies typically don't charge if you don't have direct line-of-sight on them. The Duration upgrade makes things a lot easier, too.
@Wolfwood824 now what is true is that u don't need to upgrade the line gun's altfire since it kills everything with 1 shot (if u meant that u weren't really clear). but for that u almost always gotta use stasis to keep enemies in place.
n to be true i'm an absolute dead space adorer, so i'm sure ur tips r good for new players, but i always try to make the game even harder for me. e.g. on dead space i did the 'one gun' and 'impossible' challenges in the same playthrough...
Got this yesterday to platinum the game. Was difficult, but when I bought it I had the DLC bundled so that helped immensely. Just took it slow and ran past unnecessary battles. Was a great relief to make it to the final boss because I knew I could easily beat her. Went ahead and completed the Severed DLC last night as well. Was fun with the Hand Cannon, but kinda ruined the mood at the end.

Those exploders around the 27 minute mark can spawn behind you when you're over the other side of the room, i.e. the side the first one doesn't spawn from. Would have died if not for the Zealot suit!

The only thing more difficult about Zealot is that enemies do a bit more damage, which--in practice--pales in comparison to having 3 saves and no checkpoints.

Died three times by the fucking exploders, really a cheap way of extending the games longevity. Seriously they seem far enough away then you shoot them and you're in chunks. No armor protects you from their shit. I can seriously beat everything but those little fucks.
Just past them, I'm never using the damned line gun again, not until near the end when I can max it out, force gun works wonders, even un-upgraded. Killed everything hanging from the train and in the laundry room easily. Plus I had the dlc pulse rifle which murdered the pack in the first lobby. Your guide helps a lot though, glad you posted it.

Hey man thanks for the guide, just ONE little critique I will give you and it's not even about your playstyle... at 40:34 you should of made an annotation saying to go straight for the vent, I explored the rest of the room after doing your decompression trick there thinking you just went straight for the vent to speed things up, and the pack spawned and raped my health, luckily i survived but I had no medkits left after. Just thought i'd let you know.
Are you not able to do Hardcore mode on New Game +, or did you just want to challenge yourself more? I just recently beat it on Survivalist, and that was hard enough for me XD.

Thanks for the walkthrough video managed to survived ch1-4 hardcore. I followed your steps with little modifications like my first save was on ch2, TK a lot, and kept excess health items/ammo in storage. It took me 6 hours and I think I died like more than 15 times.....
I'm working on my Hard Core playthough, my saves were at chapter 4. 7 and I made my last save on chapter 11. It's difficult, the last 3 chapters are shorter but, there is a good chance for failure. I recently just got sent back to chapter 11. I'm done for tonight nut, I'm going to keep an eye on these videos to see what is ahead and how to prepare.
@SergeantNovak Damn dude Chapter 11 save baaaaad idea, you should save at chapter 14, thats where i saved before, because at the very end at chapter 15 where you have to fly up to Ellie, dodging the last 2 structures can be a massive problem.

@TurtlePoof You can't use guns that are upgraded if that's what you meant, you have to start fresh, the majority of people use the plasma cutter and force gun

How do you catch the sputum from the hurlers and throw it back at them? For me it never works, I try and stasis it and always just have it hit and either severely hurt me or finish me off...
Also, you can only catch the long-range glob that slows you down and doesn't damage you. You can't catch the puke stream that they use when they get within 2-3 meters of you.

I will continue to attempt to get through deadspace 2 on hardcore mode but I've died about 11 times now and haven't made it past laundry room. I usually keep dying in the stupidest of parts due to trying to use minimal health items like you. Tripod has killed me in unnecessary ways now when I had easy time with it on zealot. I guess maybe the pressure of it is getting to me although I thought it would help me live.That and weed!
If you didn't save at all during the first few chapters, then how were you able to play those specific parts (slasher pinning you and the screw-up with the stalkers in the church) again? Did you actually start over?
@Wolfwood824 I'm sorry if I sound ignorant, but when the necromorph popped out and the "transition" happened, it popped out again, making me believe the event was started over.
reduced the music level to 0 in the game it helps to reduce the tension and suspense. Also if your the type who listenss to music to help you relax put some Super Mario soundtracks on your laptop on youtube it really helps. 6_6

That purple octahedron close to the "pack" is great for bouncing off them like a basketball of death killing one on each strike and for using in tandem with hurling their own wimpy bodies and wiping them out...Perhaps a bit more risky though if you try and rely on that too much and get away from the simple strategy of blasting them with the cutter. But I think TKing that octahedron over to where you will be fighting is an okay way to ensure you have it there for great geometric massacre delight.

@davidpawnit Ya they come from front or back randomly in laundry room. But their is a delay between the first slicer and puker, so as long as you have the glass broken and shards laid out and be sure to have health up and healing ready you should do okay. Also the hurler doesn't come from the same side as the slicer, I believe thats random too so be ready to have to whirl around to face him as well as firing stasis at leapers right after.
If you didn't start on New Game + why were all those extra suits in your inventory when you got your first suit huh?

Also, I'd just like to point out that Stasis is free and recharges over time, and you don't always need to use it with the LG's mines if you have good timing and know how to take advantage of the fact that enemies typically don't charge if you don't have direct line-of-sight on them. The Duration upgrade makes things a lot easier, too.

If I remember correctly, you need at least 2 DMG upgrades to be able to kill a basic Slasher with a shot to the legs.

@Wolfwood824 now what is true is that u don't need to upgrade the line gun's altfire since it kills everything with 1 shot (if u meant that u weren't really clear). but for that u almost always gotta use stasis to keep enemies in place.
n to be true i'm an absolute dead space adorer, so i'm sure ur tips r good for new players, but i always try to make the game even harder for me. e.g. on dead space i did the 'one gun' and 'impossible' challenges in the same playthrough...

Got this yesterday to platinum the game. Was difficult, but when I bought it I had the DLC bundled so that helped immensely. Just took it slow and ran past unnecessary battles. Was a great relief to make it to the final boss because I knew I could easily beat her. Went ahead and completed the Severed DLC last night as well. Was fun with the Hand Cannon, but kinda ruined the mood at the end.

Those exploders around the 27 minute mark can spawn behind you when you're over the other side of the room, i.e. the side the first one doesn't spawn from. Would have died if not for the Zealot suit!

The only thing more difficult about Zealot is that enemies do a bit more damage, which--in practice--pales in comparison to having 3 saves and no checkpoints.

Died three times by the fucking exploders, really a cheap way of extending the games longevity. Seriously they seem far enough away then you shoot them and you're in chunks. No armor protects you from their shit. I can seriously beat everything but those little fucks.

Just past them, I'm never using the damned line gun again, not until near the end when I can max it out, force gun works wonders, even un-upgraded. Killed everything hanging from the train and in the laundry room easily. Plus I had the dlc pulse rifle which murdered the pack in the first lobby. Your guide helps a lot though, glad you posted it.

Hey man thanks for the guide, just ONE little critique I will give you and it's not even about your playstyle... at 40:34 you should of made an annotation saying to go straight for the vent, I explored the rest of the room after doing your decompression trick there thinking you just went straight for the vent to speed things up, and the pack spawned and raped my health, luckily i survived but I had no medkits left after. Just thought i'd let you know.

Thanks for the walkthrough video managed to survived ch1-4 hardcore. I followed your steps with little modifications like my first save was on ch2, TK a lot, and kept excess health items/ammo in storage. It took me 6 hours and I think I died like more than 15 times.....

I'm working on my Hard Core playthough, my saves were at chapter 4. 7 and I made my last save on chapter 11. It's difficult, the last 3 chapters are shorter but, there is a good chance for failure. I recently just got sent back to chapter 11. I'm done for tonight nut, I'm going to keep an eye on these videos to see what is ahead and how to prepare.

How do you catch the sputum from the hurlers and throw it back at them? For me it never works, I try and stasis it and always just have it hit and either severely hurt me or finish me off...

You use Kinesis to catch it, not Stasis. o_0
Also, you can only catch the long-range glob that slows you down and doesn't damage you. You can't catch the puke stream that they use when they get within 2-3 meters of you.

I will continue to attempt to get through deadspace 2 on hardcore mode but I've died about 11 times now and haven't made it past laundry room. I usually keep dying in the stupidest of parts due to trying to use minimal health items like you. Tripod has killed me in unnecessary ways now when I had easy time with it on zealot. I guess maybe the pressure of it is getting to me although I thought it would help me live.That and weed!

reduced the music level to 0 in the game it helps to reduce the tension and suspense. Also if your the type who listenss to music to help you relax put some Super Mario soundtracks on your laptop on youtube it really helps. 6_6

That purple octahedron close to the "pack" is great for bouncing off them like a basketball of death killing one on each strike and for using in tandem with hurling their own wimpy bodies and wiping them out...Perhaps a bit more risky though if you try and rely on that too much and get away from the simple strategy of blasting them with the cutter. But I think TKing that octahedron over to where you will be fighting is an okay way to ensure you have it there for great geometric massacre delight.

@davidpawnit Ya they come from front or back randomly in laundry room. But their is a delay between the first slicer and puker, so as long as you have the glass broken and shards laid out and be sure to have health up and healing ready you should do okay. Also the hurler doesn't come from the same side as the slicer, I believe thats random too so be ready to have to whirl around to face him as well as firing stasis at leapers right after.
