@MattDandNickM ...you are absolutely right. Most strategy is opposite, as a jiujitsu guy is able to fight off his back and would most likely lose on points or pin. Wrestling is an excellent base, however for self defense jiujitsu is superior imo. In a real fight simply pinning your foe isn't realistic, however disabling a joint or putting him to sleep is. However cross training in MMA is a good solution.
so is this a wrestling match or a grappling match.... i mean if they were using wrestling rules, the ju jitsu guy would pin himself. if it was ju jit su then the wrestler will get tapped out. Its to different things.
You guys do realize that this was his first time grappling right? Great job you submitted a kid who's never grappled before. And he didn't tap, if you pay attention he agrees to let the kid put him in the triangle again after a suggestion by his coach and the other kid refused. So get off his nuts
First thanx for the comments... however if anyone is on Casey's nutz its you!
If you read the post carefully you would see that I pointed out Casey was a wrestler, a very good one, who did win matches that day by submission! Hence the title was JiuJitsu vs Wtrestling..not JiuJitsu vs Jiutjitsu. You obviously missed the point! As for the tap..its painfully clear he tapped, that was Nicks coach making the suggestion as a joke, cause the next step was the wrestler going to sleep...continued
The only one present who didn't think it was a tap, was Casey. His own coach Don didn't complain about the stoppage! Not even a word! He was not defending the triangle, and the ref later said he was going to stop it either way, to protect the contestant. Now, being this was his first time grappling he did well. He has an excellent wrestling base, and should get some jiujitsu in to compliment it. He is welcome to come by our school to train, or roll. We have no egos, and no hard feelings here.
@hickory493 i agree, i hate when inexperienced submission wrestlers try and grapple with you , they tap and then the either say they didn't tap or start attacking you again when you already won. what people don't understand is , if the practitioner loses his respect for you for being stubborn and not respecting his kindness of letting you go ....the second time, he may not be so nice and let go.....and that, means night night for that sorry someone.
whos the ju-jitsu guy whos the wrestler????

Wow, what a nice wrestling match! Nick, the shirtless guy, won, as one can see, well deserved! He's definitely the stronger and better one.

People who claim not to tap in a tournament from a tournament should be put to sleep.
